Chelsea FC Women moving all WSL home games to Stamford Bridge is a huge move.

More ticket revenue, more sponsorship value, more visibility and a chance to grow the women’s team even further.

But the big question is attendance. Can they fill seats consistently across a full season, not just for the biggest games?

Football can be cruel like that. You can do everything right, recover, stay patient, work hard, and still find yourself waiting for chances.

But how you handle setbacks says more about you than the setback itself.

Writing on LinkedIn, Bronze said women’s football no longer needs to prove it is worthy of investment. That case has already been made through rising attendances, bigger audiences, growing sponsorship demand and increasing club valuations.

After coming through an era where she balanced football with outside jobs and earned ÂŁ6,000 on her first pro deal, she has seen the shift firsthand.

Now the conversation is different. It is no longer about whether the women’s game has value. It is about who recognises the opportunity early enough to be part of its next chapter.

The Wales international spent key development years in the second tier, where week after week can be physical, intense and unpredictable. It is a league that has helped shape so many players before they step into the WSL.

Sometimes the spotlight misses it, but the Championship remains one of the most important parts of the pathway in English women’s football. Serious competition, serious standards, and plenty of talent.

The Ona Batlle to Arsenal rumours first started doing the rounds back in January, but this now feels a lot more real.

ESPN are reporting that Arsenal are close to signing the Barcelona defender on a free transfer this summer when her contract expires in June.

Batlle has been an important player for Barça this season, making 31 appearances and showing exactly why so many clubs rate her so highly. She brings pace, aggression, quality on the ball and experience at the top level.

This is a huge moment for Chelsea Women.

The club have confirmed that all 13 Women’s Super League home matches in 2026/27 will be played at Stamford Bridge, with the move coming after consultation with players, fans and key stakeholders.

More than anything, it shows Chelsea Women are being backed by the decision makers. Giving the team a permanent home at the main stadium is a real statement that the women’s side is central to the club’s future, not an afterthought.

It also reflects how far the team has come after years of success on the pitch. Multiple league titles, trophies and consistent growth have now led to one of the biggest moves in the women’s game.

The big challenge now is attendance. Stamford Bridge is an iconic stadium, but filling seats consistently will matter. Hopefully the club can find ways to keep growing crowds, build habits with supporters and create a strong weekly matchday culture there.

If they get that right, this could be transformational.

Lucy Bronze said what a lot of people have known for years đź‘Ź

Long before the headlines, the sponsorships and the big investment, players were already giving everything for this game. She spoke about working shifts at Domino’s, studying at university and recovering from serious knee injuries while trying to keep her football career alive. Her first professional deal was worth £6,000 for a full year.

Now the women’s game is attracting major investors and global attention, but as Lucy put it, “We didn’t need the investment to get good. We needed the world to notice that we already were.”

That is the real story here. The quality was always there. What was missing was the backing.

The game we see growing today was built by players who kept turning up when almost nobody was watching.
