Last week was a big one 🔥

PBs on lifts, stronger movement, growing confidence, and plenty of hard work paying off.

Movement Monday 🏋️‍♀️🤸‍♂️

Today we cover the goblet squat, one of the best movements for building lower body strength, improving squat mechanics, and developing mobility all at the same time.

Key points are 👇

* Keep the weight close to your chest throughout
* Brace your core and keep your chest proud
* Sit between your hips and aim for full depth while keeping your heels planted
* Drive through the floor and stand up tall

Remember, the goblet squat is a fantastic exercise for both beginners learning how to squat and experienced lifters looking to improve movement quality.

Bonus tip: If you’re struggling with your barbell squat, spend some time mastering the goblet squat first. The front-loaded position naturally encourages better posture, core engagement, and depth, making it one of the best squat variations you can add to your training.

A lot of people worry about their first session in the gym, we hear it all the time. Phrases such as “I’m not fit enough for this”, “I need to get fitter before I can join”.

The truth is, some people have experienced such harsh start to fitness, you’re joining a group class and you’re expected to do stuff you’ve never done before or simply can’t even do because of injuries or limitations.

We’re well aware of this, that’s why we created a system designed to make the first session as smooth as possible. You won’t be screamed at to perform at 100% on your first session back to fitness nor will you be expected to do stuff you’ve never done or can’t do.

We get a lot of clients asking what supplements they should be taking to help aid their training, life and recovery process and here’s the top 5 that we would recommend for ANYONE regardless of whether you train but more so if you do …

1. Protein Powder - when we look at food diaries in nutrition coaching the top factor which is a common theme is lack of protein in the diet. One scoop of protein powder is 20-30g of protein … if you struggle to get it in especially post workout grab yourself some!! 🥤

2. Creatine - we had this conversation with a small group PT member last night. If you’re not taking it, you should be!! 💪🏼

3. Omega 3 - as we get on a bit 👵🏼 this supplements importance increases. Great for joint health and reducing inflammation.

4. Vitamin D3 - Oh England … can be beautiful but rarely sunny. That’s why Vit D is a MUST especially during winter, supports bone health and immune function but most importantly our mental health during those darker months ☀️

5. Magnesium - Sleep is one of the key factors in recovery and gym performance, if you ain’t sleeping you ain’t performing. Magnesium glycinate is your best friend before bed 💤
