Players and Parents Read ⬇️

Often spend so much time focusing on batting and bowling that fielding gets little to no attention. Then they wonder why their child isn’t getting picked for pathways.

Fielding is one of the areas we tend to overlook the most, yet it is a non-negotiable skill for every cricketer.

Take this clip as the perfect example. Younis Khan was 170+ and Pakistan were going strong. One piece of exceptional fielding from head coach changed the entire course of the game, and the match finished in just three and a half days.

Without that run out, who knows how many more runs Younis Khan could have scored?

The reality is simple: every player has to field. You could spend 50% of every game in the field.

So why wouldn’t you want to become as good at it as possible?

Fielding can win you games, change momentum and get you selected.

GET GOOD AT IT!

POWER HITTING TECHNIQUE ⬇️

Power hitting isn’t just about swinging harder. It’s about creating and transferring energy efficiently through your body.

Here are the 4 key components

1️⃣ STRONG BASE
Start from a strong, balanced base. Your feet provide the foundation for power. Get your weight into a stable position, allowing you to transfer force from the ground through your legs and into the shot. Don’t let your base collapse as you hit.

2️⃣ HIP ROTATION
The hips are a major source of power. As you commit to the shot, rotate your hips aggressively towards the target, creating separation between your lower and upper body. This rotational movement helps generate bat speed rather than relying purely on your arms.

3️⃣ ARM EXTENSION
Once your body has initiated the movement, extend your arms through the ball. Good extension allows you to maintain bat speed and maximise the length of your swing. Think “hit through the ball”, rather than stopping at contact.

4️⃣ BAT SWING
The final piece is the bat path. Build speed from low to high, accelerating the bat through the hitting zone and finishing high. The aim is to create maximum bat speed while maintaining control and balance.

THE POWER SEQUENCE:

STRONG BASE → HIP ROTATION → ARM EXTENSION → BAT SWING

⬇️ 4 points to bowl FAST ⬇️

1 - Braced Front Leg - This helps you to create a good snap and is very effective to help create pace (helps BUT not essential !!!!)

2 - Pull in the front Arm - keeps you tall and creates a Delay for your bowling arm when used well. Used properly this helps generate pace and also helps with bowling a good line.

3 - Arm delay - This is very important to generate pace by creating a catapult effect when bowling.

4 - Quick back foot contact. This promotes all your energy to travel towards the batsmen allowing to you bowl Fast.
