Demonstrating a defence from a choke behind. The priority is to release the choke with a simultaneous strike to the attacker to distract and stop a follow up attack. I always teach with Krav Maga for every 1 strike the attacker launches, reply with 3 strikes.

After an intense teens class focusing on defences against knife threats, as always we ended the session with a pressure test to see how they would react in a more chaotic environment. The key to these pressure tests is not to freeze or try and remember the technique perfectly...there is no time. All you have to do is react and survive. The muscle memory along with the refined technique comes with years of training and dedication.

We strike at vulnerable targets of attackers in order to protect our selves and stop them pre-emptively attacking or attacking further. No amount of strength or muscle can withstand strikes to these areas which also include the eyes, throat, knees etc. As I always mention to those I teach, this isn't for the ring or a competition....this is for survival in the world. 👊
