As part of our expedition we raised funds for by collaborating with a virtual challenge. For this, participants had to try and cover as much ground by human power as possibly while we were on the road. Although we didn’t quite reach our target there is still time to donate to a great and sometimes misunderstood cause.

Due to the dry climate we were all suffering with dry broken skin, but Kat needed keep her fingers wrapped and clean to avoid infection.

Now that we have had a few months back to look through footage and write up about the expedition, we wanted to share some more photos showing our incredible sponsors! We were lucky to be sponsored by and we absolutely loved these on the long driving days. All you need is boiling water and a spoon or fork and you are good to go. 100% would recommend for any expedition.

Meet Cherry pie our control vehicle. The name might not be obvious at first but the decals helped inspire her name. As the control vehicle we waited until we knew the bio fuel worked before putting it in her too. She also carried the solar panels and was home to our main charging station.

Thank you so much to for welcoming us at the embassy residence to mark the end of our expedition. It was such a great day speaking about what we had been up to over the past 3 weeks and it was great to have one of our partners for the project present too. Watch this space for more photos and videos from the road. 🇨🇱

We had a great day playing around on the Salar de Uyuni, trying out Bolivia’s Bio Diesel! What a beautiful part of the world to explore. We were given some of Bolivias bio diesel to try out and overall it seemed to work as well as regular diesel.

We decided to stay in San Pedro de Atacama to restock and rethink our route. Unfortunately we just weren’t covering the mileage we had hoped due to the track quality and challenging terrain. The altitude was taking a toll on us and the rugged landscape on the cars. But this is what expeditions and adventures are about. Adapting and moving forward even if plans do change.

On our way to San Pedro de Atacama we stumbled across an abandoned town so we stopped to have a look around before heading into San Pedro for a resupply.

After a few nights camping at -15 degrees we were happy to stumble across this refuge where we camped inside and kept warm at around 4,000 meters. So far the rest vehicle has been running well on the recycled cooking oil from 🏜️

After 5 days off road we found a few obstacles on the way, such as sandy tracks, lots of rocks and rugged terrain, but our rangers did a great job of getting us over the varied terrain of the Atacama. We really have been putting the ‘4x4’ abilities to the test!

On our way north we passed through some beautiful landscapes in the Atacama in Chile. A lot of these regions don’t have natural water sources and the Atacama is known as one of the driest places on earth. We are able to carry a lot of water with us, but we still have our bottles to drink from sources that we are unsure about. Having access to clean drinking water is so valuable when on the road.
