Gotta be 4 years since our last trip. Just as we booked our next COVID hit us all everywhere. Lakes all over closed. After a couple years you settle in a routine with no choice.
Now is the time. Took a while to adjust to things over the last 18 months running a brand 24/7 so finally on the waiting list for this stunning gravel pit

Wow! What an amazing 7 days fishing at Stock pit. 9 runs in total 6 fish landed. Kinda full steam ahead from 10:30pm the same night arriving with 2 fish. Both on a gravel reed line tight to the left hand side. 5lb tench first then 3 hours later a 14.4 common. Night 2 had a serious run with serious fish on the end but managed to find a rather large metal pole imbedded in a large rectangle piece of concrete. Getting into a gravel pit at night is something i wouldn't recommend doing at all to anyone but I knew if the fish was still attached I had to make sure I could at least release it from the lead core. With the help of the missus I used the torch to follow the fluorocarbon into the water. Luckily where this huge lump of concrete was I could use it as a step still in 2.5ft of water but drops off down too 6-7ft in the margins. Relief that the hook had only snapped off and not the rest of the lead core had been attached I managed to somehow unwrap from around this submerged metal post. A good few hours after that scary moment the rod ripped off again. In the retainer to recover (and myself for that matter) I grabbed an hours sleep. 20.8 she went and was well chuffed to get a lovely 20+.
That morning at 10:30. Rip roaring take to the left again. This time an Oz short of my pb at 22.2 another gorgeous mirror. 1:30pm bang and into another. In all honesty the 22.2 battled much harder than this fish so wasn't expecting what was in the end of the line. The look on the missus face as she got the fish in the landing net and the big ball of w**d with it said it was a monster from the lake, and possibly one of the A-team mirrors. To see something like that close up will stay with me for longer than it took to smash my previous by 5lbs 13 Oz.
28.2. What an epic beast he was. "Chunky" I think I'll call him for my records if I see him again. The final fish on the Friday morning came from just on the edge of the reed line almost 90* to the left. After a bit of a battle in w**d again a lovely 18.2 mirror graced the net for its final outing that trip. All fish including the Tench fell to 14ml Banoffee wafters and pop ups from Etang baits over 9kg of Banoffee boilies from also from Etang baits! Proof in the pudding of the close ups that this bait company is smashing it for me right now. This guy takes a lot of pride in what he does for the fish not the money. Seriously give him a call. I had 10kg of prepared particle with his crushed boilies plus his wheat hydro and CSL syrups mixed in for extra attractant and 5kg of sweetcorn with added CSL just to keep things interesting. Without a doubt The session of my fishing life history. So thank you Stock pit. Already booked my September full moon session to find the big Common. Looking for an extra 1lb 12Oz to add to my pb for that magical 30lb fish barrier.

Well that was a long session. Just over 8 days on stock pit in stanstead abbotts. Seriously hard fishing after their recent spawning weather and water temps.All bites were coming at 6am in the morning and are rarely caught during the day so it was a case of pre baiting with the C&K and the S&O little and often during the day and more during the evening before setting traps tight to the far bank under overhanging tress. Only a small head of fish reside in the lake according to the Baliff compared to Banjo lake next door, so to have 6 runs 3 converted was pretty good going.
20lbs 8oz was the biggest mirror followed by half tail at
17lbs 5oz and a small scaley at 11lbs.

A few pics from last Friday's session at Southend farm fishery.
40+ carp ended up on the bank between 4 of us with a combined weight over 400lbs in a day's session. Action packed for most of the day.
