Tennis on Highbury Fields

Weekend drop in tennis now into its 24th year...Saturday 11am to 1pm, Sunday 3 to 5pm. No booking, first come first served, maximum of 2 x court capacity. We always have 2 courts, so limit is 16 people. Sometimes we get a 3rd court, especially on a Sunday. Swap around, all play with each other. All standards but to enjoy the tennis it is best to have learnt the basics..able to hit a few balls in succession and serve. Complete beginners, don't enjoy it and nor do the other players.
Important note it is CASH ONLY...£5...includes balls

Court closure and refurbishment
Islington Council and Better have announced they will be repainting all the courts and lines and carrying out some surface repair from tree root damage.

This means they will be closing:
Courts 1-6 From mid-August until mid-September
Courts 7-11 from mid-September until mid-October.

Your patience is appreciated! If we receive more details of closure dates we will post them here.

There may not be the traditional Highbury Fields Summer Tournament this year, but Local Tennis Leagues and Tie Break 10s have joined together for a special event on Sunday 18th July 2021. Good news, the weekend mix-ins (open to all) restart from Saturday June 5th!

Everyone is welcome, whatever your playing standard – you don’t need to be a Maria Shrapova or a Roger Federer! When there are a lot if us we play short matches, so no-one sits out for too long. And usually we hang around and have a coffee together after we finish playing!
