The "Golden Eagle" Tom Platz proved that the legendary leg strength that redefined bodybuilding never truly faded.

At 61, Platz revealed he could still crush 315 lbs for 15 reps. In his prime, that same weight was a warm-up he pushed for 50 to 60 reps.

Jay Cutler recently shared a wild story about Nasser El Sonbaty that perfectly captured how different bodybuilding was during the 1990s. According to Cutler, Nasser looked unbelievably massive just weeks before the Mr. Olympia โ€” so big that many people thought he was holding too much water to be ready in time.
What shocked Cutler even more was Nasserโ€™s lifestyle during prep. After a night out at the Cheesecake Factory where Nasser reportedly ate multiple slices of cheesecake only three weeks before the Olympia, most people would have assumed his contest shape was ruined. Instead, the next morning, Cutler saw him grinding through hours of cardio at Goldโ€™s Gym Venice.

Despite the unconventional approach, Nasser still walked onto the Olympia stage and finished third in the world. For Cutler, it was proof that Nasser El Sonbaty was one of bodybuildingโ€™s most unique mass monsters โ€” a competitor who could break the โ€œrulesโ€ and still stand among the elite.
