A pilgrimage of sorts.

Last time I was in Eastbourne I was about 15 and went on a kind of 3 week Christian Confirmation slash Language Immersion Camp, and I wanted to go back to see if I recognised it.

According to Wikipedia, Confirmation is a ‘rite signifying the strengthening of baptismal grace and personal commitment to faith’, and I’m not so sure either of those things happened - but I do remember getting very sunburnt, crying over the corned beef sandwiches we were given for lunch, eating McDonald’s on the pebble beach, falling in love with Swizzels Drumsticks, going to London and shopping in this new place called “Zara” and realising I wasn’t as cool as the ‘cool’ girls who got drunk on blueberry schnapps and got lower back tattoos of their favourite indie band album (“I just know I’ll love this band for the rest of my life”) (Ok, sure Nina)

Anyway. A little surreal coming back with your partner and your 9 year old son, since it did bring back a lot of memories from being A YOUTH, but we had a wonderful time. The English seaside is so damn stunning, and I know I say this every time and never stick to it, but I really should get out of London more. Plus, I behaved admirably and still didn’t get any tramp stamps nor blueberry schnapps fish bowls so I’m sure my old priest would be proud.

There was plenty of sunshine as well though! Such a gorgeous place ☀️🇸🇨

Evenings in the Seychelles. Not a single filter was harmed in the taking of these photos - it’s really this stunning 🧡 We went during the rainy season and I’m actually quite pleased we did - there were some pretty spectacular downpours ;)
