Last weekend, eight of our students (7 adults and one child) from Canary Wharf BJJ stepped up to challenge themselves at a highly competitive event—and the results speak volumes: 3 gold and 3 bronze medals. 🥇🥉 What’s even more impressive? Many have a full-time demanding job, and some only started training 12 months ago. Their success didn’t come from talent alone—it came from our structured training, supportive coaching, and a welcoming community that helps every student thrive.

It’s Never Too Late: How a 41-Year-Old person won Silver in His First BJJ Competition and improved his mental and physical wellbeing.

At 41, Diego never imagined he’d step onto a competition mat. Less than six months ago, he took his first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) class, trying to get into a healthy habit and learning a new skill and hobby. As he was having fun on the mats, enjoying the classes he decided to step up and embrace the challenge—and last weekend, he earned a silver medal in his first tournament.

For years, Diego prioritized work over fitness, but BJJ gave him a renewed sense of purpose. Competing was intimidating, but he stepped up, proving that age is just a number when you’re willing to learn.

Diego story is a reminder that it’s never too late to start something new. More important than the silver medal is the peace of mind and wellbeing that his decision to take his first class are leading towards. Whether it’s BJJ, another martial art, or a personal goal—take that first step. You might surprise yourself with what you can achieve.

Yesterday, four of our teammates stepped out of their comfort zones and into the arena, with over 1,400 athletes, and they brought home five medals!
Unlike other gyms, we aren’t competition driven, but the amount of dedication from the coaches is second to none- week in, week out to delivering a structured, high-quality curriculum, whether on the foundations or more advanced stages. Your effort, knowledge, and commitment made this all possible!
Finally, a massive thank you to everyone that chose to learn from Canary Wharf BJJ out of the dozens of other BJJ gyms available in London, this result belongs to you as well. Our community is all about learning, improving, and supporting each other and yesterday was a small sample of the quality we have.
Next stop? Going back to mats having fun and being the best version of yourself.

Again we got some very nice results in competition proving that with the right methodology and mindset everyone can be a champion on and off the mats.
In a competition with over 1,200 athletes our people, no pro athletes just working people, had 23 matches and won both one gold and one bronze medals.
Thanks the coaches, team mates and for the support, even thought each match is individual, the result are only possible because of the group.
