Your sauna and steam room experience at Southgate Leisure Centre is about to get even better! ✨

We’re giving both facilities a full refresh and renewal to create an even more relaxing, modern and enjoyable space for you to unwind after your workout, swim or busy day. 💆‍♀️💨

To make this happen, the sauna and steam room will be temporarily closed from 22 June for approximately 6 weeks while the improvements take place. 🚧🔨

We know you’ll miss them (we will too!), but we promise it’ll be worth the wait. We can’t wait to welcome you back to a refreshed wellness experience later this summer. ☀️

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we make these exciting upgrades. Keep an eye on our channels for progress updates and sneak peeks along the way! 👀

As the weather warms up and more families head to pools, beaches, rivers and lakes, there’s no better time to talk about staying safe around water. 🏖️☀️

Water should be a place for fun, confidence and adventure - and having the right water safety skills can make all the difference. From learning how to float and call for help, to understanding the risks of open water, every skill learned today could help save a life tomorrow. 💙

Together with , we’re helping raise awareness of vital water safety and lifesaving skills for children and young people.

💦🏊‍♀️ We’re participating in drowning prevention week!🏊‍♂️💦

From 13th–20th June, we’re proud to be taking part in Drowning Prevention Week as part of our Better Swim School lessons.

Throughout the week, our young swimmers will be learning essential water safety skills, including how to float, stay calm, and survive in unexpected situations around water. These lifesaving skills help children build confidence and learn what to do if they ever find themselves in difficulty.

👕🩳 Pyjama Swim Reminder!
To make the lessons even more realistic, we’ll be asking children to take part in activities while wearing pyjamas over their swimwear. This helps them experience what it feels like to be in the water while fully clothed and teaches valuable survival techniques.

✅ Please remember to bring:
• A pair of pyjamas
• Normal swimwear underneath
• A towel and everything needed for their usual lesson

We’re excited to combine fun, confidence-building activities with important water safety education and help our swimmers become safer around water this summer! 🌊💙

While most people see the smiles on poolside and the watchful eyes keeping everyone safe, there’s so much more happening behind the scenes💪👀

From maintaining high cleaning standards across the centre, setting up and packing down activities, supporting our members and swimmers, carrying out safety checks, and staying alert every second of every shift - our lifeguards do it all! 🧹🧽🏊‍♂️🦺

Their hard work, dedication, and commitment help create a clean, welcoming, and safe environment for everyone who walks through our doors. Whether they’re poolside, keeping facilities spotless, or responding when needed, they’re always ready to go above and beyond. 👏
