Top Tip Tuesday… Sportsmanship🌟
Competing and showing great sportsmanship go hand in hand. The best cheerleaders support their own team while helping create a positive experience for everyone involved💫
1. Speak Positively About Other Teams
Choose words that build others up. Comments like “Their jumps were so strong” or “That routine looked great” show maturity and confidence. It’s also important to encourage new teams. Offering your support to a newer team can boost confidence and help them grow.
2. Be Gracious in Victory/Defeat
Be proud of your accomplishments, but avoid comparing your success to another team’s mistakes. Focus on what your team achieved rather than what others didn’t.
If the results don’t go your way, it’s okay! Congratulate the teams that placed ahead of you and know that you tried your best.
3. Remember That Everyone Works Hard
Every team practices, sacrifices time, and works hard toward improvement. Recognising the effort behind every routine helps particularly at awards time (no matter which way it goes!)
4. Represent Your Team with Pride
A great attitude goes a long way!
Your attitude reflects your team, school, and community. Kindness, respect, and integrity leave a lasting impression long after the competition is over.
5. Cheer on other teams
When another squad hits a difficult stunt,or an amazing tumble, acknowledge their hard work with applause and encouragement. Respect for other teams strengthens the entire league.
6. Remember the Bigger Picture
Winning is wonderful, but friendships, teamwork, personal growth, and positive memories often last much longer. Compete fiercely, but treat others with kindness.
