3 things I wish I'd known when I started Clear Voice
Since I started Clear Voice, there have been some highs - I’ve worked with some great companies and to name a few and there have been some lows - being stopped when I’d just begun when the pandemic hit, realising
1. It normally takes a minimum of two attempts to get something right
This stands for everything, presentations, making educational videos, sales calls, you name it! It used to frustrate me because I wanted to be able to get things right the first time and I wasn’t meeting my own expectations. Now I’ve reevaluated what I expect from myself and the process. Doing two trial runs as a minimum and treating them as a learning experience rather than the final performance. The results are great and the process is much more positive and productive.
2. Consistency is essential but iteration is what will make the difference.
When running a business, it’s important to have consistency of process, consistency of communication, consistency of marketing but you can’t just sit back and think well I’m being consistent so everything should be working. It is vital to constantly evaluate processes and outputs to see where you can improve.
3. Work-free evenings and weekends are bare minimum for sanity and inspiration.
Some people thrive from being in the thick of it, burning the midnight oil and for a long time, I thought if I wasn’t doing that and being one of those people, the business wouldn’t grow. However, for me, it is the opposite. I always have the most energy, freshest ideas and excess enthusiasm for the business when I have had time to be inspired by life, nature, friends and family.
