Apparently I need to stop trying to get my ducks in a row and just let them bop around side questing.
But what if my ducks are being absolute A* holes? š
Because six weeks into the summer holidays, I am DONE.
The mum guilt tells me I should be soaking this all up. Enjoying the precious time. Making memories. Being grateful theyāre little.
Meanwhile my actual ducks are fighting constantly, chucking wrappers behind the sofa like itās a bin and ignoring every single word that comes out of my mouth.
Iām trying to work while watching my workload pile up.
Nothing in my house is where I left it.
Iām surrounded by mess.
Iām sick of hearing my own voice saying:
Pick that up.
Stop fighting.
Eat your dinner.
Brush your teeth.
PUT YOUR PYJAMAS ON.
They demand days out, snacks, entertainment and more plastic s**t from China⦠then announce that their life is rubbish and Iām a terrible mum.
They refuse to go to bed, become overtired and then turn into even bigger dicks the next day.
Iāve even tried taking my ducks into nature.
Turns out they can moan in fields too.
So maybe this is your reminder (and mine) that loving your children more than anything doesnāt mean you have to enjoy every minute of parenting them.
Sometimes your ducks arenāt in a row.
Sometimes theyāre side questing.
And sometimes you want to put the ducks back at school.
Anyone else?
