Yesterday I opened my account only to realise that as of this past Friday I’m officially a Senior Yoga Teacher. Much wow. To some extent it’s just another label, but it does mean that it’s been eight years since I graduated my original yoga teacher training and started teaching full-time. More than nine years of teaching in total and 19 years of practice. Time well spent.
Teaching has had a big impact on my self-practice. It made me question everything, fall back in love with some aspects of yoga, wave goodbye to others, and I picked up a few valuable lessons along the way. I thought those might be worth sharing even though I’ve come to find that we never truly learn anything unless we teach it to ourselves. Pitfalls are rarely avoidable (another important lesson).
Let me know in the comments what lessons from your practice or teaching you’d add to this list?
I’ll be writing more regularly about my experiences in the yoga world, and related topics so do follow along if you’re curious.
