How to optimize your health
In these hard times, we are all trying to stay healthy. This doesn’t only mean to being ill or injured but many aspects; physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Below are some tips to help you optimise your health. As Doctor of Chiropractic, we are well versed in the musculoskeletal system treating a wide range of problems, low back pain, neck pain, and headaches, as we asl the other joints and soft tissue. Along with our hands-on approach, we offer a variety of other advice and care:
1. Regular exercise:
You should try for 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous activity weekly. This should include both strength training as well as some form of aerobic exercise.
2. Balanced diet:
A diet of nutrient-rich foods from a variety of food sources including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins and healthy fats. Limit your intake of processed foods, sugar, and excessive sodium and saturated fats.
3. Stay hydrated:
It is essential that you stay hydrated for your overall health and the actions of such systems as digestion and circulation.
4. Adequate sleep:
The body uses the ‘down time’ for repair, relaxation and restoration of both body and brain. Prioritise getting 7-9 hours nightly and create a relaxing bedtime routine, stay away from caffeine, and reduce your screen time, especially before bedtime.
5. Manage stress:
Stress-reducing practices such as meditation, deep breathing, tai chi, yoga or spending time in nature have been shown to reduce stress.
6. Limit alcohol and to***co:
Both alcohol and to***co are known to have a negative effect on health. It is important to limit the amount of each, of course, to stop smoking altogether would be ideal.
