As part of our BE HACKNEY PRO series, we celebrated tradition, history, and the sport we love with the LEGENDS 100 series.

Two clubs — & — reunited to build community and bring to life something our head coach, Patrick Atteridge, who has historic links to both clubs, had dreamed about for a long time.

The evening was great and simple: lifting heavy weights in a supportive environment for lifters of all levels.

A huge thanks to and his team from for making it possible and for bringing such amazing vibes.

Special thanks to Heather Allison, international referee, for coming, helping, and educating lifters, allowing us to create a match where athletes could also learn about competition etiquette.

And to the crew — thank you all for showing up and representing what being a team is all about.

Hackney Weightlifting Club was established in 1924 and, thanks to our head coach Patrick Atteridge, the oldest Olympic weightlifting club in England — and possibly in the UK — is still going strong.

We couldn’t celebrate the competition last year because we were focused on Coach Pat’s recovery. But here we are today, teaching and promoting the sport, supporting our community, and carrying forward our true values — to live healthily and peacefully, just like Pat.

Well done to our lifters! We missed those who couldn’t make it, and we’re so grateful for the amazing group of people who are always around — helping, supporting, and fighting alongside us. Thank you! 🙏🏻
