Calling all tennis players, members & guests!

Come and start off the New Year with group fun, exercise and fresh air on the tennis court to music! Join for the term (pro rata) or ad hoc at any time if there's space.

Coming up on Sunday 5th March there will be a fun and social tournament using the "Davis Cup" format, starting at 1pm. Teams will be captained by Committee Members, Nev and Liz, who will battle it out over the 2 hours of matches arranged by Head Coach José. You can expect mens, ladies and mixed doubles for all standards of play! No advanced sign-up is required, but please arrive early to be allocated to your team.

Following the tournament there will be a fabulous cream tea, with scones and jam alongside some Prosecco, and of course, tea and coffee. At 3pm the Annual General Meeting will take place.

Important Update about the Floodlights on Court 3

Unfortunately the coin box which controls the floodlights on court 3 is currently jammed. We are currently waiting on a new part before the engineer can visit to repair it. In the mean time the floodlights on court 3 can only be used for coaching and other club sessions where the override key is available.

¡¡ Please remember to check your coins carefully before insertion and ensure they are not euro coins !!

** Coaching Update **

The new term of coaching kicks off this Saturday for Juniors and next Monday (9th) for all adult classes. There are a small number of places available on most courses, so now's a great opportunity to take action on that New Year's resolution to improve your game or get a regular session of healthy, fun exercise in your weekly schedule.

Our popular junior tennis camps for all children from ages 4-18 are returning for four days in half-term, from Monday 24th October to Thursday 28th October. You can sign up online, with junior members receiving a 10% discount at checkout.

Saturday is our annual Finals Day, featuring some great tennis plus afternoon barbecue! The first match will begin promptly at 11am and all matches will be umpired by an LTA Official. The order of play will be as follows:

Ladies' singles: Louise Field v Stephanie Lee
Men’s singles: Aaron Hotfelder v Sean Fynn
Ladies' Doubles: Sarah Lawrence-Taylor & Stephanie Lee v Handan Erek & Mojca Gabrovsek
Men's Doubles: Jim Collins & Sam West v Kenneth Chan & Aaron Hotfelder
Mixed Doubles: Brendan Smyth & Alison Easton v Ed Frain & Sarah Lawrence-Taylor

Please do come along to support and enjoy some great tennis. There will be a barbecue during the afternoon, please bring along a dish to share (sweet or savoury!) or a £5 cash donation. BYO drinks. Courts 4 & 5 will be available for social sets. Non-member guests very welcome for what is always a very social and enjoyable occasion.
