Spencer Girls Academy U15’s were crowned NATIONAL CHAMPIONS at Lords yesterday.

Winning the toss, Spencer asked Monton CC to bat on what proved to be a tricky track. Monton started positively but two early wickets by Annabelle helped Spencer apply pressure. Sharp fielding by Roxy and Caitlin accounted for the next wicket leaving Monton 33/3. Step forward Zoya and Edie with two wickets apiece leaving Monton 45/All Out.

The chase was measured and more reminiscent of a Lords Test match than a modern T20, with our batters being both patient and focused. Caitlin 18 (36) did much of the hard work leaving Edie 13* (22) to hit the winning run for a famous 4 wicket victory.

Our thanks to Monton Cricket Club for being such great fellow finalists, you’ve a very talented group of cricketers.

Thanks also to the ECB (We Are England Cricket) and Lord's Cricket Ground for being such wonderful hosts.

Champions pt 6!

A massive congratulations to Ellie and the Women’s Slam Cup side who have swept their way past all opposition to win the slam this weekend down at Valley End!!

In the semi final, 162 (Sophie S 42*) was simply too many for Ashtead with Edie R and Gigi M K doing the damage with ball to restrict them to 109. In the final, again we were inserted but Edie and Sophie set the tone retiring with 40s setting up a total of 152, before a complete bowling and fielding display with 2 key runouts and Gigi taking 3/16 from her 4 overs. It shows our great depth playing against full 1st teams, with ours away at Hurley Park. (Big thank you to David Rose for the photos)

Congratulations to Ellie and her team again!!

Lahore Karahi Restaurant POTW

Hugo Darby is deservedly this weeks POTW! He received 70% of the vote for his unbelievable 158* for the M1s against Sutton, which kept the 1s in the league after Banstead lost to Ashtead. It truly was a special innings that anybody fortunate to witness it will remember for a long time. Swipe to see highlights both from the stream and from our adult chair.

Champions pt 5

A massive congratulations to Jay and his Men’s 3s who went into their game on Saturday against top of the league knowing a win would crown them champions. After bowling them out for 136 (Cam Ponsonby 4-23), captain Jay led from the front with 55* to see them home.

Congratulations to Jay and all the 43 players he used this year. Back to back years as Champions now see them as the highest 3rd XI in Surrey as they will find themselves in Division 4 East.

The Double on Finals Day at Normandy CC! Congratulations to the the Girls Academy for winning the GU16/18 Hundred Cup final in the morning. They set Ashtead 105 to win thanks to Sophie Stubbs(35) and Caitlin Harris (25*). This turned out to be too many after Jessie Marshall (2/10) and Zara Calleja (2/6) set the tone before Edie Rose (4/9) tore through the rest of Ashtead’s lineup.

The T2 U19 followed it up in the afternoon winning their nail biting U19 T2 final by just 6 runs thanks to some brilliant late hitting from captain Hugo Richards and death bowling from George Kerr who ended with 2/13 from his 4 overs. A massive well done to all the players involved and thank you to all the family and friends who came to support! Spencer Cricket Club proudly supported by:
Kabuni
Savills
MBFX Global
