Contrary to popular belief, it is not a single macronutrient or a food group that makes you gain weight.
What makes you gain weight is the systematic, excessive consumption of more food than your body needs.
This means that all 3 macronutrients, including carbs, CAN make you fat... if you consume them in excess.
Nevertheless, if your goal is losing body fat you should consume less but enough carbs to sustain energy levels for various physical and mental activities.
