7 Lessons from my lower back injury
About 3 months ago I did a number on my lower back
It wasn’t awful
But definitely had an impact on my training since
But if there’s one thing I know
It’s that if you look back at your biggest achievements, successes in life
They often come after a challenge
An obstacle
A “failure”
A set back
And these challenges will either knock you down
Or be your greatest lessons and growth periods
So here’s 7 lessons I got from popping my lower back on a 100kg front squat 🤣
1. If you play the short game when it comes to you’re health and fitness you’ll get just that. Short- term results
2. Challenge is great but it’s important to challenge your limits with compassion.
3. Listen to your body. If it’s breaking down, if something doesn’t feel right. Take some rest. After all you have all year to get in shape (or a lifetime!) if you play the long game
4. There’s always a solution. To often we hit an obstacle and hang in the towel. But there’s always a solution a way to make it work if you really prioritise. It starts with Focusing. on what you can do.
5. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. Cheesy but true! I’m only just almost back to lifting my old weights on deadlifts and squats and I’m actually handing the same weights with better form
6. Play the long game. If you’re serious about getting super lean and fit. You won’t get there with fads “magic pills”. Just patience, consistency and purposefulness
7. Less is more. I cut my volume down where needed and didn’t lose muscle or strength. By just focusing on the most important bang for your buck movements.
