A prestigious 36-hole medal stroke play tournament and a qualifying event for the Surrey County Golf Union Order of Merit.

Open to male amateur golfers:

• Handicap Index of 9.0 or lower
• Minimum age 16
• Limited to 54 players

The player returning the lowest gross score over 36 holes will be crowned the 2026 Downs Trophy Champion.

Staff required to manage access to the course for our members and guests, most importantly looking for ways to help the experience of all players.
To marshal the golf course to ensure speed of play, course etiquette etc is followed. The position would suit an experienced golfer who is extremely friendly and authoritative at the same time. This is a paid position with benefits.

53 yr wait for a hole in one is over!

Gerry Pearson, who has been a member of Purley Downs Golf Club in Surrey for 53 years, had a very special day on Monday 26th July when he recorded his first ever hole in one.

Gerry, aged 87, used his driver at the stunning first hole at Purley Downs, a 161 yrd par 3.

Recalling the shot, Gerry said. “it looked good all the way, it pitched 2 or 3 ft on the green and rolled up to hit the pin dead centre before dropping in, I am absolutely thrilled”

The shot was witnessed by quite a few members and guests with roars of excitement and congratulations for Gerry on his achievement.
