When people think of Kenton Cricket Club, there are many club legends that come to mind. Someone on that list of legends is this man Ankit Shah who after 33 years at the club leaves as he and his wonderful family move to the UAE✈️

Ankit joined the club at the age of 6 and was an integral part of the team that won the U17 and U19 Middlesex Federations cup in back to back years in 2003 and 2004. He also competed in all 4 Saturday XIs, including for our 1st XI between 2012-2016👏🏽
A proper team player who scored crucial runs when needed and took crucial wickets too in whatever XI he played. With his experience, he was someone the boys could go to whenever they needed advice or guidance🙏

Off the pitch however, is where this man’s impact was truly felt at the club. He took on the role of Chairman of the club in 2014 until 2025. He helped pull the club out of a difficult period and led the club into one of its best periods ever:
The 1s achieved promotion from Division 3 to Division 2 in 2022 and then Division 2 to Division 1 in 2023 as champions.
The 2s achieved promotion from Division 3 to Division 2 in 2017.
The 3s achieved promotion from Division 2 to Division 1 in 2022.
The 4th XI achieved promotion from Division 5A to Division 4A in 2023 and then to Division 3 in 2024 both times as champions.

A man who has really given his all and more for the club and has allowed us to be in a strong position under new Chairman Ravi Patel however there will still be a “Ankit-sized” hole at the club that will be impossible to fill.

We wish Ankit and his family all the best in their new adventures and can’t wait to welcome them back to the club when they’re back to visit!

On Sunday we hosted a Kenton CC Golf Day. The lads missed swinging at cricket balls (and not hitting them very far) so much that they took a trip to North Middlesex Golf Club⛳️

It was a closely fought contest between the Chairman’s VI in white led by chairman Ravi Patel and the Skipper’s VI in the navy led by Viraj Patel. Ultimately, the Skipper’s VI narrowly won 5-4 to bring home the trophy🏆

New Director of Cricket Roshan Patel won the award for being closest to the pin whilst Chirag Purohit won the award for the longest drive🏌️‍♂️

A great little post-season social with the competitive spirit remaining high as always🙌🏽

374K views across the season on Instagram alone is just incredible numbers, as a club our social media presence has grown at such a fast rate over the past few seasons👏🏽

Whether it’s celebrating player debuts and milestones every weekend, to watching highlights of score many runs and break club records, or watching and Waaris Deen hit some huge sixes, some terrible fielding from a certain and singing from Devesh Kerai and Prithvi Nakrani that was just as bad as that Saj overthrow 😂

It’s been a season to remember for sure! Huge thanks to our members who take photos/videos for me when I’m not around as this number wouldn’t have been achieved without your help!🙏

Another huge shoutout to our Junior Sponsors Tutor Doctor

Their support has been amazing this season and we can’t wait to continue working with them.

Unfortunately, their team lost the Plate Final however they played some good cricket throughout the tournament.

Their stall was full of goodies and a wheel that and had a lot of fun using😂

Thanks again Tutor Doctor for your support this season🙏
