Burnout doesn’t always look like someone falling apart.
Sometimes it looks like:
Still showing up.
Still delivering.
Still answering clients.
Still training.
Still telling yourself, “I just need to get through this month.”
That’s partly why it can be so difficult to recognise.
And thats why I’m doing a workshop DM me “BURNOUT” and I’ll send you the details.
It’s worth always having a checking system in place throughout coaching clients to keep a sense on whether its already there or potentially creeping up out of the shadows
You see Burnout can develop gradually through overextension, emotional distancing and an erosion of efficacy, while, from the outside, you still appear to be functioning.
And for coaches, that matters double bubble
Because your own capacity isn’t separate from your coaching.
You are part of the environment your client is trying to change within. So how you turn up to that space as a coach is critical
When your resources are depleted, your patience changes.
Your curiosity changes.
Your decision-making changes.
Your ability to stay present changes.
That isn’t me taking a dig at you, coaching is hard and to keep on top of all these aspects is demanding,
Rest can be part of the answer and should be on the list of course
But if you return to exactly the same demands, boundaries, expectations and ways of working that created the problem, you haven’t necessarily changed the system.
You’ve just temporarily stepped out of it.
On 15th September at 18:30 UK time, I’m delivering a live PHNX workshop focused on burnout — what actually drives it, how it develops, and how coaches can recognise and work with the mechanisms underneath it rather than waiting for the wheels to fall off.
We’ll look beyond “take some time off” and into the psychological and behavioural patterns that keep burnout cycles running.
For your clients.
And for you.
If this carousel felt a little too familiar, this workshop is probably worth being in.
