It is never easy to say goodbye to something you truly love, but after a few months of careful thought, I have made my decision. I am retiring from professional tennis.
Looking back on all these years (decades, in fact) I feel nothing but gratitude. I have been honoured to share the court with the most incredible fellow players, coaches, physios, sponsors, officials, and of course, my amazing FANS.
What a rollercoaster ride it has been, full of ups and downs, joys and challenges. Still, I couldn’t be prouder of everything I have achieved, and even more so of the lifelong friendships I have built with so many outstanding people along the way.
And finally, to my family and loved ones: words will never be enough. Please know that my deepest appreciation and limitless love are yours, always.
Nekad nav viegli atvadīties no tā, ko patiesi mīli, bet pēc rūpīgām pārdomām esmu pieņēmusi lēmumu. Laiks atvadīties no profesionālā tenisa.
Atskatoties uz visiem šiem gadiem (patiesībā gadu desmitiem), jūtu tikai pateicību. Man ir bijis gods dalīt savu dzīvi tūrē ar lieliskajām spēlētājām, ar treneriem, fizioterapeitiem, sponsoriem un, protams, apbrīnojamjiem LĪDZJŪTĒJIEM.
Mana tenisa karjera ir bijusi līdzīga amerikāņu kalniņiem – pilna ar kāpumiem un kritumiem; tajā es sastapos ar priekiem un izaicinājumiem. Tomēr es lepojos ar visu, ko esmu sasniegusi, un vēl jo vairāk jūtos pagodināta par attiecībām un draudzību, ko esmu izveidojusi ar tik daudziem izciliem cilvēkiem.
Un visbeidzot, pāris vārdu manai ģimenei un tuvākajiem - ziniet, ka mana visdziļākā pateicība un bezgala lielā mīlestība vienmēr ir jūsu.
