QMBL Fencing Three-weapon club based in Queen Mary, University of London. Open to both Queen Mary & Barts and The London students, experienced fencers and beginners.

We are a friendly three-weapon club focused on participation and development from BOTH Queen Mary and Barts and the London Students. Our priority is to make you feel part of the fencing family, enjoy the sport of fencing and encourage wider participation to competit

ions. Whether you are a total beginner or a highly competitive member, we will do our best to cater to your needs so that you may improve your abilities and reach your personal goals. Training sessions are not only fun but also highly competitive as well to deliver the highest standards of results when it comes to BUCS events. With the current status of the pandemic, we will take precautions to minimise the risk to our members. Our training "home" is QMotion - located on Godward Square of Mile End campus. Finally making it to the top of the cabinet we have Yann. Our most experienced committee member, Yann finally has the power to get everyone to dab at every session. Probably attending every QMBL session that’s ever existed, Yann is one of the most dedicated members of the club, and there is no one better to be our trusty pres this year. Make sure to say BELLO!! whenever you see him, probably wearing cool merch that he also designed 💙💛

NOW stepping into a big girl role, we have Maria as our amazing vice president. Returning from her year abroad, spoons may finally be able to start repaying the loan they took out in her absence (even if she doesn’t live opposite anymore). Maria is not only super fire(ball) on the piste but also a force to be reckoned with on the dance floor at Hail Mary. A sabreur and final year law student, Maria is a true legend of QMBL fencing 💛

Next is Sam, taking on the role of treasurer. A medic, Sam is fully equipped to deal with dire situations, similar to what our finances may look like after buying one million blades and body wires for the club. Onto our women’s captain, Sophia. Also a fresher last year AND an epeeist (it’s an epidemic), the women’s team is incredibly capable hands (because she’s a pending doctor and I guess a decent fencer).
A double threat in foil and epee last year, Sophia is taking over leading the team, aiming to do one better than last year and match Queen Mary’s best ever result in BUCS (won by our very own women’s team): a premier league win (built diff tbh) 💛

Introducing our men’s captain for the season, David. Joining the club last year, he was an integral part of the team that gained promotion (come on) to Tier 1, and got some very cheeky hits throughout the season. Despite being an epeeist, he is a great person and a lovely addition to the club. Can he lead the men’s team to back-to-back promotions👀? 💙

Next (carrying on last year’s theme as a remote role), Tamara is taking on social sec. Being on her year abroad in America won’t stop her from running this fire account, planning socials, and making sure everyone is at Hail Mary (time difference works in her favour). It’s that time of year - introducing the QMBL Fencing committee 2026/27!! First up is Ekin, who is going into her final year of psychology - perfect for the role of welfare officer. One of the women’s team’s top sabreurs, she’s taken up the role after her stint as social sec and is the one to go to if you are having any issues, or just need to yap (she’s VERY good at that in English and Turkish our bilingual baddie) 💙
