When we talk about silicosis, it's important to look beyond a single sector: workers across construction, stonemasonry, demolition, quarrying, foundries, ceramics, road work and tunnelling can all face exposure to respirable crystalline silica.

And the risk doesn't always stop with the person carrying out the dust-generating work.

Poor controls and contaminated environments can create secondary exposure too.

That's why tackling silica requires a shared solution.

Our campaign is exploring the evidence, sharing resources and looking at the practical steps that can help reduce exposure to silicosis.
