EUROPE DOMINATES THE 2026 CANOE MARATHON WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!

An unforgettable finish in Gualeguaychú, Argentina, as European paddlers claimed 21 of the 26 world titles and 63 of the 78 medals!

DENMARK'S INCREDIBLE COMEBACK! Valdemar Jørgensen and Jonathan Dagnæs-Hansen were 11th, around 300 metres behind the leaders with two laps remaining, after suffering boat problems. Against all odds, they fought back to win the Senior Men's K2 world title in a dramatic sprint against Argentina, ending a 36-year wait!

HISTORY FOR PORTUGAL! Ricardo Coelho won both the Senior Men's C1 and C2 titles, the latter alongside Rui Lacerda — a historic first for Portugal.

ITALIAN DOUBLE GOLD! At just 18, Leonardo Candela conquered the Junior Men's K1 and K2 world titles, sharing the second victory with Matteo Savella.

MADS PEDERSEN DOES IT AGAIN! A fourth consecutive Senior Men's K1 Long Distance world title for the Danish champion!

A HISTORIC FIRST FOR SLOVAKIA! Romana Švecová claimed the country's first-ever Canoe Marathon world gold.

DOUBLE GOLD FOR GREAT BRITAIN! Dianora De Bilio won both Junior Women's K1 world titles.

HISTORIC MOMENTS AT THE CANOE MARATHON WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!

The first three days of competition in Gualeguaychú, Argentina, have delivered unforgettable moments for European canoeing!

History for Slovakia! Romana Švecová claimed the country's first-ever Canoe Marathon world title, ending a 20-year wait for a World Championship medal!

Double gold for Dianora De Bilio! The British junior conquered both the K1 Short Race and Long Distance titles on the same day.

Hungary leads the medal standings! Eight medals, including three golds, with Borka Zagyvai winning twice and Mihaly Pluzsik completing an incredible hat-trick of three consecutive world titles!

Seven medals for Portugal! Two world titles, including a double triumph for Gabriel Fernandes, alongside podium finishes from Fernando Pimenta and other Portuguese athletes.

Spain, Denmark and Sweden have also celebrated world titles, contributing to an outstanding European start to the Championships.

39 medals for European nations across 16 completed World Championship events!

And we're only halfway through! Two more days of racing and many more world titles still to be decided.

EUROPE CLAIMS 6 WORLD TITLES IN TECHNICAL RACE!

Another outstanding day for European paddlers at the 2026 SUP World Championships in Sabaudia, Italy!

6 GOLD MEDALS and 17 of the 24 medals went to European athletes in Saturday's Technical Race finals!

Spain led the European success with 6 medals, including three world titles:
Aaron Sánchez – Open Men
Bianca Toncelli – Junior Women
Laura Quetglas – Masters 40+ Women

Manuel Lauble completed an incredible double, adding Technical Race gold to Friday's Sprint world title!

Noic Garioud claimed Open Men's silver, while Michael Fargier 🇫🇷 and Katerina Trdlova 🇨🇿 were crowned Masters 50+ world champions!

European Juniors impress again

Marlon Daskiran secured his second silver medal in two days, while 🇵🇹 Lourenço Viveiros repeated his Sprint bronze with another podium finish in Technical Race!

Claudia Postiglione also claimed Junior Women's silver!

EUROPE DOMINATES SPRINT AT THE 2026 SUP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

European paddlers claimed 7 gold medals and 16 of the 24 medals awarded in the Sprint finals in Sabaudia, Italy

Vadim Korobov is the new Open Men's World Champion! Just weeks after winning European silver in Agios Nikolaos, the Lithuanian secured world gold ahead of Spain's Sergio Cantoral and Manuel Hoyuela.

Cecilia Pampinella continues her incredible season! After sweeping all three Open European titles in Greece, the Italian added the Open Women's world title on home waters

Matei Barbu laimed Junior Men's gold, ahead of Marlon Daskiran and Lourenço Viveiros , completing an all-European podium!

Pavlina Kankova won Junior Women's gold, with Ioanna Papadimitriou taking silver and Nuria Chiquero bronze!

European world titles also went to Ginnie Betts, Petronella van Malsen and Manuel Lauble (joint gold) in the Masters categories.

European paddlers shine again at the SUP World Championships in Sabaudia

Day 2 of the 2026 Paddle Worldwide SUP World Championships saw the first Technical Race competitions, with European athletes delivering outstanding performances across all categories!

Thursday's highlights:

Ivan Puente set the fastest Open Men's time (4:16.15).

Csillag Kocsis led the Open Women's competition (5:18.66).

Matei Barbu impressed again, recording the fastest Junior Men's time (4:14.87).

Bianca Toncelli was the fastest European Junior Woman (5:34.86).

Reigning European champions Cecilia Pampinella, Sveva Sabato and Claudia Luchetta also progressed in Technical Race

Friday is Sprint Finals Day!

Eight world titles will be decided, with Europe's leading paddlers ready to fight for medals, including Matei Barbu , Lourenço Viveiros , Cecilia Pampinella and Christian Andersen.

Finals start at 15:00, with the Open Women's and Men's titles decided at 16:00 and 16:10

European paddlers shine on opening day of SUP World Championships

The 2026 Paddle Worldwide SUP World Championships are underway in Sabaudia, Italy, with European athletes delivering impressive performances in the opening 100m Sprint races

Lithuania’s Vadim Korobov (23.24s) and Poland’s Hanna Kaminska (28.39s) were among the fastest in the Open categories.

Romania’s reigning European Open Sprint champion Matei Barbu impressed with 22.97s, the fastest Junior Men's time of the day!

Triple European champion Cecilia Pampinella also showed her strength on home waters, while Spain, Germany, Portugal and several other European nations secured places in Friday’s decisive stages.

Friday, 16 October, brings the Sprint semifinals and eight world title finals!

EUROPE SHINES AT THE 2026 OCEAN RACING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!

La Vila Joiosa hosted a record-breaking edition, with 800 athletes from 40 nations, as the world's best paddlers battled through two demanding days of racing on mostly flat Mediterranean waters.

GORDAN HARBRECHT IS WORLD CHAMPION AGAIN!

Two years after becoming the first European to win the men's SS1 Open world title in Madeira 2024, the German reclaimed his crown in Spain!

Rosie Edwards claimed women's Open bronze and successfully defended her Under 23 world title!

Bernardo Pereira also defended his Under 23 world title, finishing sixth overall in the men's Open race.

Andrea Jiménez retained her Junior Women's world title!

Australia celebrated victory in both the women's SS1 Open, through Jemma Smith, and the Mixed SS2 Open, with Smith and Cory Hill winning an incredibly close race!

European champions Sara Sotero and Bernardo Pereira fought with the leading Mixed SS2 group for most of the race before finishing fifth, just 39 seconds behind the winners.

With three European medals across the Open podiums and more world titles in the younger categories, Europe's paddlers showed they can challenge the traditional ocean racing powers!

RECORD-BREAKING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS RETURN TO EUROPE!

La Vila Joiosa, Spain, is ready to welcome the 2026 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships, starting tomorrow, 9 October!

809 athletes from 40 nations will compete in the biggest edition in the history of the championships, marking the 10th edition and the 6th time the event takes place in Europe!

Just six weeks after the European Championships in Brest, Europe's best paddlers are ready to challenge the world's leading athletes!

Among the names to watch are European champions Bernardo Pereira, Rosie Edwards, Pierre Vilella, Judit Vergés, Constança Frazão and Leonardo Candela.

Can Europe challenge the traditional dominance of Australia, South Africa and New Zealand?

9 October – SS1 races
10–11 October – SS2 races, depending on sea conditions.

New European club champions crowned in Milan

After three intense days and 168 matches at the Idroscalo, Odysseus and MKC Duisburg leave Milan with the 2026 Paddle Europe Canoe Polo Club Championship titles.

Odysseus claimed the men’s crown after a thrilling 4–3 victory over Málaga in the final, while Avranches secured bronze.

MKC Duisburg successfully defended the women’s title with a convincing 4–0 win against Burriana, with RM Essen completing the podium.

A total of 40 teams and more than 300 athletes took part in one of the biggest club events on the Paddle Europe calendar.

Congratulations to all teams, athletes, coaches, officials and organisers involved in a great weekend of European canoe polo!

Paddle Europe Congress 2027 – Ljubljana, Slovenia

The 18th Ordinary Congress of Paddle Europe will take place on 3 April 2027 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, hosted by the Canoe Federation of Slovenia.

The Congress is the highest governing body of Paddle Europe and will bring together Member National Federations to decide on key matters for the future of the organisation, including finance, strategy, governance and elections.

Elections will be one of the central items of the 2027 Congress, with the following positions open for nomination:
• President
• One Vice-President (male)
• Three Elected Board Members, with a minimum of one female
• One Paddle Europe Representative to the Paddle Worldwide Council

The deadline for nominations is 9 January 2027 at 23:59 CET.
