Our first Intensive Reformer course at Body In Sync
Over the last two weeks, we’ve enjoyed a very special milestone: our first STOTT PILATES® Intensive Reformer course at Body In Sync—10 days and 50 hours of learning, movement and teaching practice.
We all have to start somewhere. Just as our students are beginning their journey towards becoming instructors, Body In Sync is beginning a new chapter as a STOTT PILATES® Academy Partner. Our first intake may be small, but the growth has been considerable. It’s been wonderful to see how far our students have come since their first day, and I look forward to supporting their continued development.
We began with the Biomechanical Principles, establishing a solid foundation before exploring the Essential repertoire and building students’ confidence in teaching.
Alongside the exercises, we revisited anatomy, anatomical terminology and the relationships between muscles, bones and movement. This brought us into postural assessment, exploring global and segmental alignment and using those observations to develop programmes tailored to the individual.
We then progressed to the Intermediate repertoire, adding greater challenges in coordination, strength, balance and endurance while continuing to develop teaching skills.
We also explored group programming: how to create a balanced class, offer appropriate modifications and support people with different abilities and needs. My aim is for every person to feel included and gain something meaningful from their practice.
As the course drew to a close, we focused on exam preparation and the next steps in students’ training. But the learning doesn’t end here. Further mentoring, guided practice and opportunities to work together will help students consolidate their knowledge and grow in confidence as they prepare for their examinations.
Thank you to our first students for your curiosity, commitment and enthusiasm. It has been a pleasure to share this journey with you, and I look forward to welcoming more future instructors to Body In Sync.
Until then, keep practising, stay curious and enjoy the learning.
Thank you
