Nobody should have to give up the sport they love for financial reasons.
We all know that cricket is an expensive sport. The equipment, kits, match fees and travel all add up.
That's why we are introducing the Player Support Fund, a fundraising mission that will be used to help remove some of the financial barriers to playing cricket.
The fund will operate on a discreet basis, where a player or parent can quietly ask their manager, captain or a committee member for support to keep playing should they hit hard times.
Financial hardship could hit anyone of us at any time, and we as a club would like to ensure this difficult situation does not stop people from enjoying the sport we all love.
Some examples of how the fund will be used include:
- Ensuring the club has a supply of equipment such as helmets and bats for everyone to use
- Providing kit for players in need
- Covering the cost of teas to ensure someone receives a full meal
This fund will be built up through voluntary fundraising, and we've got a big raffle to kick things off!
Expertly modelled by Club Captain Dinger and Chairman Paul, we will be raffling off a framed Duncan Fearnley bat signed by the one and only Ian Botham!
Half of every ticket will be donated and ringfenced for the Player Support Fund, to be used for the goal of improving financial accessibility.
The raffle is being held online, ending August 25th and tickets are available here https://raffall.com/359504/enter-raffle-to-win-lord-botham-signed-bat-hosted-by-the-memorabilia-hub
We would love to hear your ideas on how this player support fund could be used to help widen cricket participation - thank you in advance for your support
