Fulham Reach Boat Club is a registered charity with a vision of Rowing for All.

Proud winners of the Community Sport and Recreation Awards, Community Club Of The Year 2024, Sports Business Awards, Sports Innovation Award 2023 to name a few. Our vision is for all state school pupils to be the next healthy generation that have fair access to the power of rowing. FRBC's Mission is to create a sustainable and successful rowing club in all Hammersmith and Fulham state schools by 2021 and demonstrate the improvements in physiology, behaviour, social skills and academic results through participation.

Boats Not Bars Goes Virtual!

Last Friday saw FBRC members participate in the very first Virtual Boats Not Bars Competition.

The new format, which will become a monthly event, aims to bring the benefits of rowing to prisons beyond our usual reach.

Our first opponents were HMP Featherstone, a men’s prison in Wolverhampton. Staff and governors from five other prisons in the area came along to see the format in action.

A huge thank you to everyone who rowed their socks off on Friday. We’re grateful for your time and for your patience while we worked through the technical hitches. We’re looking forward to the next one!

Pairs Head 2026

Six Fulham Reach Boat Club crews took to the Tideway last weekend.

Our squad achieved five top-ten finishes - including a third place - continuing the great momentum we’ve built across 2026 so far.

Some of our most valued volunteers have never held an oar.

What matters most is a friendly face and a couple of spare hours.

Roles include:

👋 Welcoming participants when they arrive and helping them settle in

🚉 Guiding people to and from the station

🧭 Orientation support for newcomers finding their way around the club

🏋 Gym support during land sessions

☕️ Making teas and coffees before and after sessions

🤝 Helping boat, getting crews and equipment on and off the water

🚣 Rowing alongside participants, if you’re experienced on the water

Whether you can help every week or once a month, we’d love to hear from you or anyone in your network who you think could be interested.

You’ll meet great people and have a lot of fun, and you’ll get to see the difference a morning on the river makes.

A double nomination!

We’re thrilled to have been shortlisted for two categories at the Charity Times 2026 Awards.

♻️ The Charity Sustainability award recognises our commitment to promoting environmentally friendly activities o the Thames and minimising our impact on the local ecosystem.

📝 The Charity Leader of the Year recognises our CEO - Adam Freeman-Pask - for his work in shaping our strategy across all aspects of FRBC.

We’ve won the Inland Waterways Association’s Sustainable Boating Award 2026 (non-commercial category)! 🎉

It’s recognition for the environmental programme we’ve built alongside our core mission of using rowing to change lives on the tidal Thames.

Some of our work has included:

🔋 Electrifying 40% of our coaching and safety fleet (charged with renewable energy, with our pontoon charging point open for community use too),

🗑️ Removing over 3.5 tonnes of rubbish from the river since 2024 with more than 1,000 volunteers

🧪 Running a citizen science water quality programme involving 500+ young people (now testing for microplastics as well as e.coli, with London Metropolitan University),

🤖 Trialling the Port of London Authority’s autonomous “WasteShark” clean-up robot,

♻️ Our kit-recycling partnership with Kitround,

🦭Our accessible wildlife watching and seal-spotting sessions on the river.

We can’t wait to share more exciting sustainability stories this season!
