Oh I just had to today… producer expected me to cover my own flight, hotel and meal costs for a shoot with a client I have 5 years experience with. Of course I said no. Choosing to save a few hundred pounds in travel expenses will likely cost them thousands in overtime of the whole crew and retouch. But hey we can only laugh and move on.

Good thing is I had another pencil so onto that. Moral of the story: freelancing is a savage world, cherish the clients that love and respect your talent and ignore those who don’t.

Avoiding oxidation: a trick I use ALL the time on set, especially for fruits and vegetables like avocado and apples that, no matter how beautiful they look at first, will start to oxidize after being out for a few hours…

A STUDY IN COLOR: After styling drinks yesterday, I felt inspired to continue this series with one of my latest drink styling shoots… one that was, quite literally, an explosion of color 🤌🏼

There’s something about drink styling that feels so special to me. Maybe it’s the movement, the translucency, the reflections, or the way light passes through every layer… but it always feels a little like building magic in a glass. Am I being too cheesy now? 😅

I also love how expressive it can be. With drinks, even the smallest shift in tone, garnish, texture, or glassware can completely change the mood of the image and the story it tells.

And I love how a palette can hold mood, memory, and meaning all at once ✨. Hope you’re enjoying this series as much as I am 🫶🏼

There’s a whole world of work that happens before we even step on set to food style, and most of it goes completely unnoticed…

One of my favorite parts? Ingredient sourcing haha. It’s such an underrated part of the process, but also one of the most important, because it sets the tone for how smoothly everything will go later on.

Every detail matters. Because once we’re on set everything needs to feel ✨effortless ✨
