Sifu Kai explains the importance of addressing spinal alignment, which often auto-corrects perceived shoulder position problems. This is because the shoulder is actually part of your limb (articulatory skeleton), not your spine (axial skeleton). The Siu Nim Tau stance naturally corrects spinal alignment while the arm movements teach your shoulder-girdle to move around on the support of the spine and ribs.

Sifu Kai uses the analogy of rock balancing or stone stacking to illustrate the vulnerable nature of static balance, where even a light touch can cause a structure to crumble. Instead, as a two-legged being, a Wing Chun fighter requires dynamic balance where the body is constantly getting feedback and adjusting.

Sifu Kai demonstrates the difference between letting your hips find correct alignment by themselves versus physically trying to find the proper position and locking it in with muscular force. If you make the mistake of creating an area of tension by employing muscular force, it becomes trivial for opponents to manipulate your balance during chi sau.

Sifu Kai gives an example of how he used to train his SNT balance on public transport with the help of enthusiastically aggressive bus drivers and the unpredictable up and down and sideways forces of trains and ferries. In this way, a Wing Chun practitioner can develop practical skills with "micro-touches" to occasionally regain temporarily lost balance.
