🩰 Don't Be Afraid to Ask for Help

One of the things we value most in our classes is making sure every dancer feels supported.
Sometimes, after the class has practised an exercise together, a child may need a little extra guidance.

Taking a few moments to explain and practise it again can make all the difference to their confidence and understanding.

At Harmsworth School of Dance, we encourage our dancers to ask questions, keep trying and never worry about needing a little extra help.

Learning isn't about getting everything right the first time - it's about making progress, one step at a time.

We're so proud of every dancer who has the confidence to say, "Can you show me again?" 💕

Fun Family Sundays at the Royal Opera House! ✨🩰

🗓️ 18 October - 29 November 2026

Sundays are filled with creativity, imagination, and discovery for children aged 3–10, with exciting performances, interactive workshops, and hands-on experiences designed for the whole family to enjoy. 🎭👐💛

A wonderful way to introduce little ones to the magic of the arts and create special family memories together.

🩰 Take a Look Inside Our Standard 6 Ballet Class!

Our Standard 6 classes begin with a warm-up at the barre, followed by barre exercises such as pliés, tendus and grand battements.

Dancers then progress to pointe work at the barre and in the centre, pointe turns, centre practice, allegro (not shown), before finishing with a cool down and a traditional révérence (curtsey).

As dancers progress through the grades, they continue to develop their technique, strength, musicality and performance skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.

It's wonderful to watch their confidence grow with every class.

We are so grateful for the wonderful feedback we receive from our dance families.
One parent recently shared:

“Both my girls, who had done ballet for a long time, continue to thrive and improve and most of all, love ballet. Miss Mandy is a wonderfully encouraging and exciting teacher who really transmits the joy of dance. It is the one extracurricular activity, both continue to do without exception. Highly recommend. We are very thankful.”

Creating a positive, supportive environment where students can grow in confidence, develop their skills and enjoy every step of their dance journey is at the heart of everything we do.

🩰 Did You Know?

Many people think pointe shoes are what allow ballerinas to dance on their toes, but the shoes are only one part of the equation.

Before a dancer ever puts on a pair of pointe shoes, they spend years developing the strength, technique, balance and control needed to dance safely and confidently.

Pointe work is a significant milestone in a dancer's training, achieved through dedication, consistent practice and careful guidance from their teacher.

Watching children grow from nervous beginners into confident dancers is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

Along the way, they learn new skills, build confidence, make wonderful friendships and, for many, enjoy the excitement of performing on stage.

Every child's journey is different, but we're proud to support them every step of the way.
