1. What is BJJ? Why BJJ over other martial arts?

Buy your membership or sign-up to our Mailing list using the link below
https://www.lsesu.com/activities/sports/clubs/12217/ Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art, combat sport, and a self defence system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting.

2. BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using le

verage and proper technique, taking the fight to the ground – most notably by applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the other person. It is the preferred choice of ground martial art used by most MMA fighters today, such as Conor Mcgregor, George St Pierre and Dustin Poirier.

3. Do I have to have prior experience? The basic answer is that you need no prior experience to start and you do not need to have to be at a certain fitness level either. Over time and through regular attendance you will get naturally fitter, stronger and faster. Remember even the most experienced people in the gym started from nothing and everyone is a beginner at some point!

4. What do I need to bring/wear to a class? Members have a choice of training with or without a gi. If you decide not to train with a gi, just wear something comfortable, eg. Shorts & a t-shirt.

5. When and where are training sessions? We will be holding a training session on Wednesdays from 6-8 pm and an open mat session on Sundays from 10-12 pm. These will take place in the Badminton Court in the Old Building.

6. Where can I get more information? Have a look at our website for all the information you need and to buy a give it a go membership. Check out our instagram regular BJJ posts!

Hey all,

I haven't posted anything before because I thought this situation would not last this long but it seems to be with us for another few months so, I hope you have been disciplined and used your time wisely and kept training.

But time is a funny thing and the trouble with having more of it is that it just evaporates away if you lack discipline. Ask yourself what you have done with the extra couple of hours you have by not traveling into work. And the answer is probably, nothing.

We train on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Just because we are not together should not change that. You may not do the full two hours but ring-fence that time. That is your training time and you need to both use it, and protect it.
Let your partner/spouse/family know that between 6:00-8:00 on those days, you will be training. And then do.

I am sure you have seen a lot of content online that should keep you busy but if you have other ideas, stuck not knowing what to do then post here

Of course, do not limit yourself to these times, but do ring-fence them and do use them.

Discipline is what got you this far, and discipline is what will get us through this.

Oss 👊
