The Jersey Tiger Moth has just been seen in South Park. It is mostly found on the South Coast including the Isle of Wight. In recent years inland colonies have become established in parts of Somerset and London and hopefully, now in South Park

South Park Heritage Market Garden.

Next to the Sands End Arts and Community Centre and the Walnut Tree Grove is the wonderful South Park Heritage Market Garden.

It dates back many years and at times, it has been very neglected, but now, Friends of South Park volunteers led by Fiona and Sweder have transformed it. It is a place of quiet so please treat with care and strictly no dogs.

South Park last Sunday morning.

Saturday night had been warm and dry, a great time to be outside and have a picnic in the park but this is what was what one picnic party left behind.

It was not a picnic on the cheap. Jim Beam, Bollinger, Chardonnay, Whole Food snacks, plastic bags, boxes, plates, knives, forks and much more. All discarded or to put it more simply “fly-tipping”

If you can carry a picnic into South Park then use the same bags to take it home, do not dump it in South Park. Take it home

The Friends of South Park work all of the local schools in introducing children to the delights of planting flowers and watching them grow.

To celebrate her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee children from the local primary school planted a crown in the Clancarty flower beds. Thank you .heritagemarketgarden for organising and guiding the activity!

AGM 2022.
The latest AGM for the Friends of South Park was held on 20th April 2022 in the Sands End Community Centre. To see a copy of the minutes click on the following link.

South Park in Fulham South West London. One of the best hidden parks in London. Trees, grass, flowers, playgrounds, tennis courts, football, cricket, jogging and a great place for friends, family and walking the dog.

We will be holding a well overdue AGM on Wednesday 20th April at 6.30 pm at the Community Centre in the park (SEACC), please see details below. The Committee is looking for new energy and input following the last two years where it has been difficult to drive things forward. It would be great to have more ideas, members and representation from all of the community in and around South Park; so please do come along and please do bring anyone who may be interested in joining.

Following a recent residents-led Parks Commission, our Council has promised more funds and initiatives for our Parks and more support for the Friends Groups; there is no better time to join in, have your say and make a difference.

The Friends of South Park will be holding an AGM on Wednesday 20th April 2022.

It will be held in the Sands End Arts and Community Centre in South Park and everybody is welcome to attend.
Start - 6.30 pm
Close – 8.00 pm

Meanwhile, these past few days of warm weather has pushed us even further into spring.

Spring Flowers in South Park.
Walking to the park this morning it was great to see so many
Magnolia Trees bursting into bloom in local gardens.

In the park lots of spring flowers are on show with lots more to come.
Stealing Plants.
Not such good news is the ongoing theft of plants. Who ever it is, please stop stealing the children's plants in South Park

Theft, stolen, pilfering, swiping, pinch, vandalism, looting, stealing.

At the end of last year, the FoSP spent a delightful morning with Marie d’Orliac primary school children planting 30 or more wallflower plants in a South Park plant bed. They should be in bloom in late March. Clancarty Road entrance.

It was, as you might imagine, a bit muddy and a little chaotic.

The children's hand-drawn pictures visualizing what the flowers would look like in spring were pinned to the railings. The pictures are now a bit streaked with rain but still very colourful.

In February the plants were stolen.
To avoid disappointment, Fiona from FoSP, planted 30 more wallflower plants.
At the end of February, most of these plants were stolen.

In early March, Fiona and her team planted some more wallflower plants.
A few days later I can see that some of those have been stolen.

Please stop stealing the flowers in South Park.

South Park will be closed all day Friday
🚨 STORM EUNICE UPDATE:
Due to the strong winds forecast by the Met Office parks in Hammersmith & Fulham will be closed on Friday and all sports bookings in our parks have been cancelled.

The picture is not South Park but with so many wonderful trees in South Park the danger level is high. Stay safe and please do not go outside during the storm.
