Che Yoga and Ayurveda Wellness

Che Yoga and Ayurveda Wellness I’m a yoga teacher and Ayurveda therapist with many years of experience supporting people in improving their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

My holistic approach that recognises the deep connection between body, mind and lifestyle. My name is Geny Caloisi and I believe that through Yoga and Ayurveda we are able to achieve our highest potential and live a long, healthy and happy life. For this reason I am an Ayurveda practitioner and consultant. I am also a Yoga teacher, which gives me a great understanding of the body and its work. Aft

er practising Yoga and meditation since my early 20’s, I decided to become a Yoga teacher, learning from the source. I took my yoga teacher training in India in 2012. My master, Lalit Kumar, was initiated by Swami Veda Bharti the disciple of His Holiness Swami Rama of the Himalayas. As part of my Yoga Teaching training I was introduced to Ayurveda and the science fascinated me. In 2015 I decided to study Ayurveda Diet and Life Style and Ayurveda Therapies with Dr Deepa Apté at the Ayurveda Pura academy.

Sun Salutations aren’t always easy.

Remembering the sequence, coordinating breath with movement and moving with confidence can take time.

At this Saturday’s Yoga Lab workshop, we’ll slow everything down and explore practical techniques, alignment tips and simple resources to help you understand and remember Classical Surya Namaskar.

You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

Saturday 20 June, 10:00-12:00

People often see the meal on the table, but not everything that goes into creating it.

For this Summer Solstice Lunch I’ve been sprouting beans, chickpeas and lentils, preserving lemons, preparing cherries in lime blossom tea, gathering dandelion leaves, and making herbal drinks with rose, rose geranium and hawthorn, sweetened with jaggery.

It takes time. A lot of time.

But that’s what I love about these seasonal lunches. They give us a chance to experience flavours, plants and preparations that you simply won’t find in a supermarket, and rarely in a restaurant. Each ingredient has been chosen because it belongs to this season and has something to offer at this particular time of year.

For me, these lunches are about more than food. They’re about reconnecting with the rhythms of nature, being curious, trying something new, and sharing the abundance of the season with others.

A little celebration of the Summer Solstice, one plate at a time. 🌞🌿

Saturday June 20th, 12:30-14:00 at the WG Grace, 1 Lion’s Close, SE9 4HG, Grove Park.

Doors for bookings close today.
Link to booking is in bio for the Yoga Lab Seasonal Lunch.

If you can’t make it to this one, pencil down for the Autumn Equinox meal in September.

I’ve been thinking a lot about death lately.

As a yoga teacher, every class I teach ends with Savasana - the co**se pose - a moment to let go completely. It reminds me that endings are part of life, and that learning to let go is a practice in itself.

My ageing parents are across the ocean, and it worries me that I am not around. My sister carries all the responsibility, bless her. This has made me realise how little we talk about ageing, dying and grief.

Recently, I read The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, a beautiful reminder that life isn’t about having no regrets - it’s about embracing the one we’re living.

Perhaps the art of good dying is really about learning how to live well.

That’s why I’m looking forward to the Death Cafe at the Ringway Centre, hosted by Jane McGee, this Thursday.

No agenda. No guest speakers. Just tea, cake and honest conversation about something we all experience.

My practice and teaching are influenced by a search for balance.

Not balance as a fixed destination, but balance as an ongoing conversation.

Some days we need more movement. Other days we need more rest. Sometimes we need structure and discipline. Sometimes we need softness and space.

Ayurveda teaches that balance isn't something we achieve once and then hold onto forever. We are constantly responding to our environment, the seasons, our relationships, our stage of life and what's happening within us.

As nature changes, we change too.

The challenge is not to resist those changes, but to notice them.

How many muscles are involved in a Sun Salutation? ☀️

The honest answer?

Almost your entire body is working.

From the muscles in your hands and wrists, shoulders and pectorals, your feet and calves to your legs, hips, core, back, Surya Namaskar asks the body to move as one integrated system.

That’s why just a few rounds can leave you feeling warm, energised and fully awake.

But here’s what most people don’t realise:

The benefits don’t come from simply going through the motions.

They come from understanding how to use the sequence well.

A small adjustment in your breathing.
A subtle change in your alignment.
A clearer understanding of the transitions.

These can completely transform how the practice feels.

This Saturday, at Yoga Lab, we’re taking Sun Salutations apart to discover the intelligence hidden inside the sequence.

☀️ Learn why each movement matters
☀️ Improve your technique
☀️ Build confidence in your home practice
☀️ Discover how the whole body works together

Cleverly design objects bring me happiness and awe. I wanted a special present for my neighbours’ baby and this cot seemed perfect!
Humans are so amazing!
What makes you smile?

Time for a calming Line Tree tea!
This tree, also known as Tilia, gifts us with edible flowers and leaves.
You can make:
Calming tea, tasty cordial or syrup, use young leaves for salad or blanch them and use them as you would vine leaves!
If you want to try some of this, come to my summer solstice celebration next Saturday, June 20th. The Yiga Lab with Sun Salutations first and then a seasonal lunch!
