EXTENSIVE SPLIT WAVE

📋 How It Works:
* The Setup: Two teams,4 Mannequins, flat discs
* The Detail: Ball 1 & 2 both splits the attacking team are +1 with a 4v3 & have 20seconds to score. The Pink Gk plays long into the wide area for them to attack the yellows 4v3. At the same time the pink Defenders recover to the edge of the box & back to the offside line with the yellow attacker working to get onside starting at the base line. The yellows attack 4v3. Ball 3 The yellows look to build & attack with pinks with 1 minute on the clock to score & a normal game is played. Should the pinks score or yellows score quickly - Coaches can drop one ball to allow play to build for 1 minute.
* The Transition: If the OP team will the ball on the split (ball 1&2) then that part is dead & they wait for ball 3. For ball 3 it is a normal game
🎯 Key Focus Areas:
* Physical load: This Practice is great for Extensive days focusing on HSR & high volume with larger spaces & less players allowing for an aerobic practice.
* Technical/Tactical focus: You Can use this practice to focus on IP - utilising 1v1 situations to beat the defender through COD or COP. As a team - using the wide areas to draw the defenders & attack with an overload. Attacking through counter attacks.

Coaches - comment ’Split practice’ if you would like this video sent to you.

Football was never meant to stop being fun. ⚽️

Before the pressure, results and tactics, there was just a ball, a pitch and your mates.

Maybe it’s time to bring it back to the start! Just playing, enjoying the game and having fun with friends.

When was the last time you played 5-a-side with your friends purely for fun? 👀

Maybe it’s time to get the group back together.

You’ve been asking how I structure a basic training session, so here’s a look at a recent session I ran for a small group of 12 players. ⚽️📋👇

A quick reminder: In my opinion a session plan & practice is a framework and you can always adapt parts of the session to suit different age groups, be flexible to numbers, level of player.

The best coaches are the most adaptable ones. 🧠💡

Coaches Let me know below a time where you had to adapt a session & what you done?! 👇

📋 How It Works:
* The Setup: Two teams, 3 Mini goals, flat discs (15x30)
* The Detail: The Coach plays the ball to the GK who punches into the pink player for them to look to role & score into the 3 mini goals. The pink defender must be in the zone to score. Yellow player then turns to receive the ball from the coach to score with the pink player recovering. The yellow player must be past the mannequins to score.
* The Transition: Ball 1 - If the yellow defender wins the ball they are allowed one transition to score. Ball 2 - If the pink defender wins the ball they are allowed one transition to score.
🎯 Key Focus Areas:
* Physical load: This Practice is great for intensive days focusing on accels & decals!
* Technical/Tactical focus: You Can use this practice to focus on IP or OOP, IP - utilising 1v1 situations to beat the defender through COD or COP. OP - Force wide & lock wide protecting central areas, 1v1 brilliance OP.

Coaches - Comment below on how often you use 1v1 practices & do you make it directional?

📋 How It Works:
* The Setup: Two teams, 3 Mini goals, flat discs (15x30)
* The Detail: The Defender plays the ball to the opposition with the aim of protecting the central mini goal. Yje attacking team (yellows) must make 1 pass before they can score. The defenders aim is to force into the wide channels to create a 1v1 situation, should the yellows cross the line they can not play accross and it stays a 1v1 until either they score or ball goes dead
* The Transition: Should the defenders win the ball practice is dead and players rotate.
🎯 Key Focus Areas:
* Physical load: This Practice is great for intensive days focusing on accels & decals!
* Technical/Tactical focus: Can use this practice to focus on IP or OOP, IP - utilising 2v1 situations to draw the defender and score, 1v1 brilliance to beat your player. OP - Force wide & lock wide protecting central areas, 1v1 brilliance OP.

Coaches - comment below would you use this practice to work OP or IP?

Professional football is judged by one thing: results.
Wins. Losses. League tables.
But coaching has always been about more than that.
Yes your legacy can be measured by trophies, but we remember the best coaches for how they are as a person. You can measured the coach by how the people who leave their environment, are they better than when they arrived holistically.

What impact are you having on your players?
What values are you passing on?
What makes you jump out of bed every morning to coach?

Years from now, players might not remember every result. But they’ll remember how you made them feel, the confidence you gave them, the standards you set, and the belief you helped them find.

That’s your why.

👇 I’d love to hear from you…

Comment below What’s the achievement you’re most proud of that has nothing to do with the win loss column?
