London Scottish Golf Club The oldest 18 hole course in England, set among the heath and woodland of Wimbledon Common in SW19 beneath the iconic windmill

London Scottish Golf Club, set in beautiful heath and woodland by the windmill on Wimbledon Common, is an out of the ordinary 18-hole golf club. The wood-panelled clubhouse is one of the few in Britain that remains from the Victorian era, and is a wonderful setting for your after-match refreshments. It is the longest continuously played-upon course in England. We pride ourselves on being a friendl

y, down to earth club, so whether you visit us as a green fee or join us as a new member you will be made to feel welcome. The London Scottish Golf Club is considered the longest continually played-upon course in England. No-one is sure exactly when golf was first played here, but seven holes were picked out in the early 1860s by members of the London Scottish Rifle Volunteers, who were stationed on Wimbledon Common. A number of our holes, such as Long Butt, Running Deer, Blockade and the Long Hole, were originally laid out along the lines of rifle ranges. Old bullets are occasionally still found on parts of the course.

Tomorrow it is time for the Club Championship

Members will battle it out over 36 holes, while those not taking part in the full championship can compete in a separate 18-hole event.

The question is, can last year's champions defend their titles?

Club Champion (Scratch): James Fell, 152 over two rounds
Handicap Champion: Tommy Tighe, net 137
+10 Scratch Trophy: George Simmonds, net 142

Good luck to everyone taking part.
