Rambert School Excellence comes in all forms. The heart, root and centre of the School is its dance technical training. Rambert School is a registered charity.

The full title of the School is Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, with the terms “Ballet” and “Contemporary” listed in this order because it is alphabetical. At Rambert School both these major genres of western theatrical dance are treated equally and as major studies. Neither is undertaken largely or only to supplement the other. This approach, which is unique in the UK, is adopted

because – as the record of former students of the School shows – it provides young dance artists with an education and training that allows them, with great success, to enter, enjoy and improve the professional dance job market of today.

Hear from MA student Mary Price-O’Connor about her experience of the Postgrad at Rambert School studying her chosen topic of Plastique Animée, an advanced interpretive branch of Dalcroze Eurhythmics.

The MA in Dance Research is a flexible two-year course, designed for professionals with at least three years’ experience in a wide range of dance practices.

The course is primarily delivered online and can be joined from anywhere in the world, with a focus on developing the individual student’s practice through bespoke mentoring and flexible teaching that fits around professional schedules.

Cost: £4124 per year (£8248 in total)

Come for a FREE day of dance at Rambert School!

Open to boys aged 15-21 who are already taking part in dance classes, you will gain insight into dance training within a conservatoire setting at a higher education institution. Parents and carers are also welcome to attend.

The programme will be taught by male-identifying members of our world-leading faculty, alumni and associated artists, and supported by male identifying students who are currently training at Rambert School.

Date and Time: Saturday 12 September 2026, 12pm-5pm

Interested in a part-time marketing and events role? We are looking for a Marketing & Performances Officer to help share the energy, creativity and excellence at the heart of Rambert School.

Working with the Marketing Manager, you will develop and deliver engaging digital marketing, social media and content campaigns that shine a spotlight on our talented students, exciting performances and artistic achievements. You will also help to lead the front of house experience during performance season across the spring/summer months so some flexibility is required.

Recent grad Beatrice Carrozzo and current student James Reid can be seen as featured dancers in the BBC’s recent documentary about the strong connection between dance and the brain.

Huge congratulations to Postgraduate Javier Bustamante whose documentary And Yet We Dance has been published by the Dance Studies Association, Dance Studies Association ❤️‍🔥

And Yet We Dance is a documentary exploring how dance endures in places where artistic practice is often overlooked. Set in Ciudad Juárez, a Mexican border city shaped by industrialisation and social violence, it brings together the voices of local dancers whose stories reveal both the challenges and possibilities of creating amidst adversity. Through conversation and performance, the documentary expands beyond its local context to ask universal questions about identity, belonging, artistic resilience and the necessity of creating. Ultimately, the shared experiences of the featured artists, unveil how dance is not merely a profession or an art form, but dancers’ most powerful way of inhabiting the world.

Javier’s work was supported by Rambert School throughout his time on the MA in Dance Research and post graduation.

‘This achievement would simply not have been possible without your support and the opportunity to study at the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. My time at Rambert has profoundly shaped both my artistic and academic journey, and this documentary is a direct result of the experiences, knowledge, and encouragement I received there.’

Outstanding National Student Survey results!

We’re delighted to share our exceptional 2026 National Student Survey (NSS) results, demonstrating the strength of the student experience at Rambert School.

- 89.8% response rate
- Rated at or above the sector benchmark on all 27 survey questions
- 23 questions exceeded benchmark performance
- Overall positivity rate of 98.3%

The National Student Survey (NSS) is an annual UK-wide survey by the Office for Students that gathers final year students’ feedback on the quality of their higher education experience.

Our results significantly outperform both the UK Dance average (87.4%) and the all sector average (84.9%), with Rambert School ranking 2nd out of 27 providers with a full set of publishable Dance results and leading all identified conservatoire comparators.

The overwhelmingly positive student comments highlighted our supportive staff, strong student voice, personalised feedback, safe and inclusive community, and the quality of both our vocational and academic curriculum.

A huge thank you to our students and staff for helping make Rambert School such a positive and inspiring place to learn and grow❤️‍🔥
