The BDSA is delighted to announce the launch of the BDSA Dance Safe Register, a major new initiative designed to support safeguarding, transparency and professionalism across the UK dance industry.

The Register contains 14,307 dance schools across the United Kingdom, spanning 85 dance styles, making it the largest and most comprehensive database of UK dance schools assembled to date.

Created for parents, guardians, dancers, teachers and school owners, the BDSA Dance Safe Register helps people make informed decisions by providing greater transparency around safeguarding measures, professional standards and school information.

For parents and guardians, the Register offers increased visibility of a school's safeguarding and verification status, helping them make informed choices when selecting dance training. Dancers can train with greater confidence, knowing more information about a school's standards and commitment to best practice is available.

For teachers and school owners, the Register provides an opportunity to promote their school, increase visibility to prospective students and families, and demonstrate their commitment to safeguarding and professionalism.

Schools are displayed in one of three categories:

All Schools – Listed using publicly available information and not yet claimed or verified. Inclusion does not indicate BDSA accreditation or endorsement.

Accredited – A school that has claimed its listing, verified its details and successfully completed identity, safeguarding and disclosure checks.

Enhanced – A school that has completed additional verification relating to teaching qualifications, professional memberships, awarding body status and safeguarding arrangements across its wider teaching team.

All dance schools are encouraged to claim their records, update their information and begin the accreditation process.

The BDSA Dance Safe Register forms part of the BDSA's wider commitment to raising standards, improving public confidence and supporting excellence across the dance sector.
