Our club celebrated and recognised important milestones of the 2023 season where 1st 11 got promoted to Division 4 of Middlesex county cricket league and 2nd 11 finished mid table of Div 5. It was a great evening with food and laughs. Winners list:

1st 11 playing against Kensingtonians had to watch a mammoth total put against them, bowling first Ashwin and Srivats took 3 apiece to keep Kensington cc to 302. Chasing 303 to win, a knock for the ages by Venkatvasan 146 combining with Ankit 39 who gave a cracking start. Harsh then came to the middle after 2 quick wickets, scoring 81 not out, sublime runs, staying till the end to finish the game for PCCC, 303 achieved with 3 wickets to spare. One of our great wins gaining 10 points led by Captain's knock.
2nd 11 story of close games this season continued, bowling first Mani teared away at Ealing Hanwellians taking 3 wickets in his 18 overs for 68 runs with able support from Krish who picked up 2 wickets on his come back to pccc after a long gap. Mani deserved a 5 for not to be with some catches going down. Chasing 201 to win Vikram 29 runs and Srini gave a solid start with 69 for 0 then a middle order collapse, and a recovery by SK with 32 runs and late order hitting by Balaji with 21 gave us a good chance in the end we had to settle for a draw at 196 for 9 with 6 overs of great resistance by Mukund and Mani at the back to play out 53 overs gaining 2 points.

Double win weekend 16 July
1. Brilliant hundred from Gunjan 122 with useful contributions from Vikram 32 and Santosh Krishnan 34 taking 2nd 11 to 259, which was defended beautifully by Manivel 4 fer, Mukund 3 fer winning by 96 runs against mid table team Perivale
2. 1st 11 had chased down 133 thanks to Syed 31 and Harsh 25 with useful lower order contributions from Srivats and Saran. A hot weekend made worthwhile

A memorable win, one for the ages, composed start by Srini to score 23 but a middle order disaster made us go into 55 for 8, coming in at no. 10 Charles scored a blistering 64 with Vidya and Tejesh ably supporting them to score 100 runs for the last 2 wickets to a total of 153. Defending 153, Mukundan and Tejesh started off brilliantly with overcast conditions swinging the ball at pace and then Charles to add to his blistering 64 took figures of 4 overs 2 maidens 5 for 5 😱to finish off the opposition for 87.

Final match of the season saw Pccc First 11 finishing off with a great win against table toppers London Tigers. We were in grave danger of being bowled out cheaply at 21 for 6 before a counter attacking innings of Fastin 84* with Saran 28 recovered the total to 186. From 21 for 6 to 186 is a tremendous effort in itself. Santosh Singh then continued his form with another 4 for with support from other bowlers to finish the season on a high. While second 11 gained 1 point from a losing effort, Charles taking a 4 wicket haul to restrict opposition to 130 however we failed chasing that target down ending up short by 23 runs. Harsh and Marri continued their good bowing form with economical wickets.

Penultimate game of the season - First and Second 11s faced losses however some noteable individual performances came through with 💪Ankit💪scoring 84(86) in a fighting effort for 1st 11, with💪Santosh Singh and Arjun💪 each taking 3 wickets.
In 2nd 11, 💪Harsh💪 had an all round performance of 2 wickets in bowling and then single handedly took us to a respectable position with 57. 💪Arun Prasad💪 had a good outing taking 3 wickets in 3 overs and 💪Marri and Srini💪continued their bowling form with 2 wickets each. Not to forget 1 handed blinder at 1st slip from Marri and Sankar's direct hit from deep extra cover

Both first and second 11 came back to winning ways collecting crucial points at fag end of the season. For first 11, a shorted 20 over game due to weather conditions meant strategy had to change - the team responded brilliantly with Venkat leading with 67, Fastin 27, Saran 22 setting a stiff target of 161 against Bessborough who then folded for 130 under some brilliant spells from Pavan 4 for, Saran 2 for - ably supported by Santosh and Srivats.
2nd 11s come back was one for the ages - wiping out some bad memories, they put a formidable 191 of their 45 thanks to Vinits 33*, Balaji's 25 after being put into bat in persistent drizzle. Defending 190, 2nd 11 bowling attack did their usual - Balaji and Sankar providing opening breakthroughs then Marris form fetching him 3 wickets supported by Srini and Sk to close the match by 40 runs - team effort for both 11s. Let's finish the season on a high folks.
