📊 Data is amazing… until it becomes information overload.

One of the biggest mistakes I see golfers make is trying to chase every single number on a launch monitor. More data doesn’t always equal better golf.

These are the 5 data points I focus on in my own practice:

🎯 Carry Distance
Carry is king. Total distance changes with weather, firmness and slope, but carry is what you can control. Knowing how far each club flies in the air helps you pick better targets and stop relying on your “best one.”

↔️ Club Path
I like to keep my path number under 4° either way. Everyone has tendencies, but excessive path often means excessive curve.

🌀 Spin Axis
This tells you how much the ball is curving. If I can keep this under 4°, I know the ball flight is likely to stay predictable and in play.

⛳ Angle of Attack
With irons, I’m looking for around -2° to -4° to encourage solid, ball-first contact.
With the driver, +2° to +4° helps maximise distance and efficiency.

💥 Smash Factor
This gives me a great indication of strike quality. Around 1.3+ with irons and 1.4+ with driver tells me I’m finding the middle of the face and getting the most from my speed.

Launch monitors are incredible tools… but don’t let the numbers confuse you.

Focus on the metrics that actually move the needle, practice with purpose, and get A LITTLE better every day. 👊⛳

⛳️ How was your weekend golf? ⛳️

Did you play well? Did the driver behave? Did the putter finally warm up… or did one part of the game let you down? 🤔

I’d love to hear how you got on this weekend! Drop a comment below and let me know:

For me, I enjoyed a relaxed 9 holes around the Manor Course . Always nice to get out.

⛳️ 3 checkpoints for ELITE ball striking… and they all involve one thing: your glove hand. 👋

Most golfers focus on where the club is. The best ball strikers pay attention to where their hands are.

✅ Checkpoint 1 – Top of the backswing:
You should still be able to see your glove hand to the trail side of your trail ear. If your arms disappear behind your head, there’s a good chance you’ve become too wrapped and disconnected.

✅ Checkpoint 2 – Club parallel in the downswing:
As the club works down, your glove hand should be covering your trail thigh. This helps you deliver the club into a strong pre-impact position.

✅ Checkpoint 3 – Impact:
For that crisp, compressed strike we all want, your glove hand should be working towards the inside of your lead thigh to encourage proper shaft lean.

Get these three checkpoints right and you’ll be well on your way to those satisfying ball-then-divot strikes. 🔥⛳️

Which checkpoint do you think you struggle with the most? Let me know below! 👇
