This year has been nothing short of transformational for Moving Moi CIC.

From grassroots cycling and walking programmes to community sport, wellbeing sessions, and women- and youth-focused activities & our first family funday with over 100 attendees! This year was about one thing: movement as a tool for confidence, connection, and community wellbeing.

We brought people together across generations and backgrounds to move more, feel better, and belong.

Through our cycling, walking, fitness, and sports initiatives, we supported women, young people, and underrepresented communities to overcome barriers to physical activity, improve mental wellbeing, and build healthier routines — together.

Our programmes went beyond exercise. They created safe, welcoming spaces where participants built confidence, friendships, leadership skills, and a renewed sense of self.

Whether it was a first bike ride, a weekly walk, or a community fitness programme, every activity centred dignity, access, and joy.

Alongside this, we delivered targeted programmes supporting:

Women and mothers returning to physical activity

Young people engaging in positive sport pathways

Communities experiencing health inequalities

Safe, culturally-sensitive spaces for movement and wellbeing

Some highlights from the year:

🚲 Multiple cycling and walking programmes delivered across local communities

👩🏽‍🍼 Women- and mother-focused activities supporting confidence and wellbeing

🌿 Regular wellbeing-led movement sessions promoting mental health

🤝 Strong partnerships with local organisations, venues, and funders

📈 Growing participation from underrepresented and inactive residents

🧭 A clear step forward in our mission to make movement accessible for all

None of this impact would exist without our participants, grant funders, amazing delivery partners, coaches, volunteers, coaches, community partners, and supporters who believed in the power of movement to change lives.

As we look ahead, we’re excited to deepen our impact, reach more communities, and continue building healthier, happier futures — one step, ride, and one workout session at a time.

Thank you for moving with us.

What an incredible weekend! Proud to share that I had the honor of leading and pacing the Shadwell Dragons from the front row as we secured second place at the Nowka Bais 2024 Dragon Boat Race Competition on Sunday, 21st July organised by an incredible team of staff & volunteers from Nowka Bais CIC.

We won all our races with blistering times on our way to the final. In the final race, we accelerated off like a rocket, taking the lead for most of the race. However, in a thrilling finish, a very strong and competitive Team Zanzibar crept up towards the end and snatched the victory by just 1 second.

Huge congratulations to Team Zanzibar on their well-deserved win! It was a day full of competitive racing, and it was fantastic to see new teams from across the UK joining in.

The sunny weather, festival vibes, and traditional Bangladeshi street food at the famous Edgbaston Reservoir in Birmingham made the day even more special. We even had the chance to unwind and relax night before with a complementary swim, sauna & steam at Nuffield Health (Birmingham Central). Our amazing team accommodation was at Aloft Hotels and had a chance to feast (carb load) at the delicious Afrikana Kitchen on the famous food stretch Ladypool Road.

I’m already looking forward to our next race and returning next year with even more determination.

Thank you to everyone who supported us, and a big shoutout to the Shadwell Dragons for their amazing performance and team spirit. Onward to the next challenge!
