As we celebrate Volunteers’ Week, I want to say a huge thank you to all the incredible volunteers at One Vision.

As a volunteer-led organisation, One Vision simply would not be where it is today without you. It was wonderful to spend time with some of our volunteers, hear your stories, and learn more about the reasons that inspire you to give your time and energy to supporting our communities.

Your dedication, passion, and commitment make a real and lasting difference every day. Thank you for everything you do, for the time you give, and for the impact you have on the lives of others.

Happy Volunteers’ Week, and thank you for being the heart of One Vision.

Right from the starting the One Vision Care for Carers programme, Sadia and I wanted to create something meaningful for South Asian carers and highlight just how important it is to truly listen to the needs of unpaid carers.

We recognised there was a real need within the community, especially as many people did not identify themselves as carers in the first place. We wanted to help break down those barriers, start conversations, and ensure carers felt seen, heard, and supported.

This was one of the very first projects we worked on for One Vision, and through this journey we have continued to grow in our understanding of the experiences and challenges unpaid carers face every day.

I would like to sincerely thank the carers who have supported us and shared their experiences along the way. My thanks also go to , the Adult Services team, my colleagues, and the charity for their continued support in making this possible.

It’s not every day that one receives an invitation to a Royal Tea Party!

From receiving the email, to holding the invitation and then finally attending … the entire experience has been filled with so many emotions. Gratitude, humility, joy… and above all, reflection!!

This moment is not just about me, but about the journey of community work, the people who believed in me and everyone who has supported me along the way. I am truly grateful to all my supporters, stakeholders, and members of the community who continue to encourage and inspire me.

A heartfelt thank you to my parents, my husband, my kid and my family for always standing beside me ❤️. I would be nothing without their constant love and support ..

And I think I’m going to embarrass my close friends a little by saying their names and . Thank you for being my constant support system emotionally, mentally, and in every possible way.

And of course, thank you to my wonderful colleagues , and

Moments like these remind me that meaningful work never goes unnoticed.

Grateful beyond words🙏🏽🧿

Today, Sadia and I were behind the scenes preparing some delicious food for our unpaid carers session. We know that while unpaid carers come to connect and support one another, they also really value the refreshments and cups of tea that bring comfort and create space for meaningful conversations.

Today’s session gave carers the opportunity to share what they need, how we can make the sessions more interactive and engaging, and what keeps them coming back each week.

It was so encouraging to hear how much these sessions are helping to reduce isolation, strengthen community connections, and provide a refreshing space to learn, share, and simply be themselves.

A special moment from today was celebrating one of our unpaid carers’ birthdays. He brought in a cake because he wanted to share his special day with the group — a group that now feels like family and a home away from home. It was a lovely reminder of the strong bonds and sense of belonging that have grown within these sessions.

Knowing that our carers see these sessions as a safe space where they can feel understood and supported means so much. Every session reminds us why this work matters.

Another great turnout today, and we feel incredibly grateful to be part of something that is making a positive difference in people’s lives. watford

After a refreshing two-week Easter break, we were delighted to resume our carers session starting, as always, with some warm chit chat and a cup of tea.

We then moved into a calming and much-loved yoga session led by Sheth from Minds. These sessions have truly become a staple for our carers, offering a much-needed space to relax, recharge, and reconnect.

It was wonderful to see new members joining the group and to witness how our community continues to grow from strength to strength.

A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers
Kaul, Tina, and Hema Shah for their continued support in making these sessions possible.

Desi Beats with Our Amazing Women Carers

Today it was absolutely wonderful to see so many of our incredible women carers come together for a truly uplifting Desi Beats session.

Led by the amazing, , Founder & Chief Executive of , the session was full of energy, joy and connection. Desi Beats is a beautiful concept developed by creating a safe, welcoming space where women can dance freely, without judgement. It’s all about belonging, reducing isolation and bringing people together through the power of movement and music.

For our carers especially, sessions like this are so valuable for boosting memory, lifting mood, encouraging laughter and most importantly, giving space to simply have fun. And it was fantastic to see women of all ages taking part!

A huge thank you to all our carers who joined us, and a very special thank you to for delivering the Desi Beats sessions for One Vision. We truly value these collaborations and the positive impact they bring to our community.

A big shoutout as well to Sadia for helping make this happen. #

We’ve got more sessions coming up soon… so keep an eye out! 👀✨
