Join us in club this Wednesday to take part in our weekly hump day challenge!

This week’s challenge: max calories on the ski erg in 60 seconds

How It Works:
▪️ Start the 10 station workout
▪️ When you reach station 2 (ski erg), call over the coach on the floor
▪️ You will have the 60 second round to accumulate as many calories as you can. We will take your score from your first round only
▪️ The coach will write down your score and add it to the leaderboard

You have from 6.30am - 8.30pm to enter, and the winner with the most calories accumulated will be announced on Thursday!

How It Works:
▪️ Start the 10 station workout
▪️ When you reach station 10 (squat jumps), call over the coach on the floor
▪️ You will have 60 seconds to complete as many squat jumps as you can. We will take your score from your first round of squat jumps only

Introducing André aka (Dre)
Our studio manager here at
Retra fitness Seven Sisters.
André has over 15 years experience in the fitness industry, with qualifications in personal training & biomechanics.

1. What made you decide to become a fitness coach?

I’ve always been involved in sports and martial arts from a young age,
I developed a great passion for fitness and helping others achieve it.

2. What is your favourite type of training?

My favourite type of training is resistance/strength based exercise and Muay Thai.

3. What is one interesting fact about you?

I played semi-professional basketball in America and went to same basketball camp as the late, amazing Kobe Bryant.

Hump Day Challenge 🐫
It’s that time again guy’s 💪

Join us in club this Wednesday to take part in our weekly hump day challenge!

This week’s challenge: Maximum number of press-ups in 1 minute

How it works:
▪️ Complete the 10 station workout as normal
▪️ Let the coach on the floor know you’re ready to start your 1 minute of press ups
▪️ Pop yourself into a press up position and get pressing!
▪️ The coach will give you your number of press ups and add it to our leaderboard

STANDARDS:
❗️ Your chest must touch the floor
❗️ Allowed to be on your knees, but we encourage anyone who can be on their feet to do so
(you’re only cheating yourself 😉)

Meet the team 💪👋


Daniela Ababei is a qualified personal trainer and sports massage therapist

Her main goal in life is to educate, spread positivity & motivation, as well as emphasise the importance of our bodies and minds. She dreams of a world where everyone's brightest and truest selves thrive and are seen.

1. Why did you decide to a become a fitness coach?

I used to work out at a gym by myself, wandering around trying different machines, and it felt kind of pointless. I started going to workout classes and eventually began to train. My personal trainer taught me more about my body than I ever thought I could learn at the time. I became interested in doing the same thing for others, coaching them and helping them achieve their goals as my trainer helped me."

2. What’s your favourite thing about Retra?
The RETRA Method is set out to recreate everyday movements; functional fitness is at the heart of what we offer. Our workouts involve the use of your full body and multiple muscle groups.
In just 30 minutes, you’ll blast through a full-body functional workout that changes every day, so you never have to worry about getting bored! EVERYONE IS WELCOME !! KEEP FIT !!💪

3. What’s your favourite type of training?

I love interval training because it feels like a personal challenge to see how many rounds in each circuit you can complete .
Interval training is an excellent way to train as it pushes you, it is challenging, motivating, and has a multitude of benefits. For example, interval training is excellent in strengthening your cardiovascular system, muscle endurance, and is effective in helping you lose weight. Interval training gets your heart rate way up and pushes your body in a way where results are seen quickly. I remember jumping squats being the death of me, but now I get excited for them and feel great doing them as my body has adapted and they feel much easier and controlled. It’s an awesome feeling when you notice your body adapting and strengthening itself! It automatically boosts your confidence and relationship with yourself.

Myth Busters!

Carbohydrates have received a lot of backlash over the last 10 years.
All of these fad diets leading to villainization of entire food groups.
Check out some key scientifically backed facts about carbs below.

- They are the body’s primary source of fuel.
During digestion the body breaks carbohydrates down, absorbs them into the bloodstream (Blood Glucose) which is then used to fuel your body.
They are also stored in your muscles.

Not all carbohydrates are as good for you, here is a list of some of the better options.

- Fibre rich fruit and veg
- Whole Grains
- Beans, Peas and Lentils

Try to limit foods with added sugars.

- Sweets
- Desserts
- Processed foods
