MATCH REPORT

AT LAST WE ARE BACK FOR ANOTHER MEMORABLE CAMPAIGN FOR CHARITY. FLAMENGO START THE 2018 CHARITY FOOTBALL CAMPAIGN WITH A WIN.

At last! The new campaign is underway as the Flamengo team fresh from their return from Palestine begin a new campaign to bring Unity Through Sports and support orphans in war torn countries.

The first match of the season pitched the Highly talented All Stars FC ready to bring Flamengo down to earth.

The game started slowly with both teams finding it difficult to hold possession however Flamengo started to find their rhythm and began to move the ball well through the field, Tipu being the link started to stamp his authority and his all round diversity on the game bringing players in and find pockets of spaces all round started to affect the game.

Despite the intricate play the break through came in the 18th minute with long kick by Ishy, bought down expertly by Faz and delicately lifted the ball over the keeper from 20yards

The All Stars felt a little dejected and matters were made worse when Faizaan Ahmed stole in delightfully rounding the keeper and slotting home but the lead up to the goal with neat play and intricate passes between Saf, Sahir, Issh and Tipu before Faizaan Ahmed was sent through on goal slotting home is what saw the most cheers.

Flamengo sensed an opportunity to put the game to bed in the first half and increased the tempo of the game resulting in a third for the home side after Issh chased down the ball resulting in a rush back pass to the defender who in turn was expertly out witted by Tipu before he laid it on a plate for Faz to get his third as Flamengo ran riot.

This was not as straight as it may sound but the fitness and passing of the Flamengo team had clearly improved from the experienced learnt in Palestine, Hasan and Saf with Paps and Ishy played the perfect defensive quartet resulting with the All Stars being unable to retain possession long enough to mount any sustained pressure.

It wasn't long before Tipu was set free on goal, he's powerful shot could only be parred by the keeper into veteran striker Fayyaz Dar's path who squeezes the ball home from a tight angle.

Riz O fitness was a major concern last season however his powerful bursts along the wing leaving the chasing defenders following shadows put to bed any doubts over this dynamic player, his unselfish square ball to Faz to slot home is only reciprocated by Faz to set up RizO who smashes into the net.

Veteran Issh shows he still has a few seasons in him with superb link up play with Tipu who beautifully sends him through with only the keeper to beat but is fouled in the box, Tipu steps up to calmly score the resulting penalty.

With the half time score at 6-0 the All Stars must have felt down hearted and the ear roasting the manager lashed out was evident.

In contrast the manager Kamran Siddique was keen to press home the tiny matter of a long 45 minutes before anyone can relax.

A rejuvenated All stars team made a few changes and go all out attack their first attack sees right back Ahsan Butt take a shot from 20 yard, hitting the post and the ball rebounding back to him.

This time he opts to cross and delivered an inch perfect cross onto the head of Mamun the left winger who slotted past the on rushing keeper.

All stars started the quicker and an unlikely comeback was on the cards when a speculative long lofted ball saw Ishy heading the ball back past the on rushing keeper in a rare mistake 2 goals in 2 mins and the All stars were dreaming of a comeback.

Few moments later Riz O rushed down the wing and through on goal his shot was parried by Sups and onto the onrushing Faz who slotted into an empty net to make it 7-2 and send a huge warning to the All Stars.

However it was the All Stars who took the important next goal which came from a corner and the ball was headed in by the shortest player on the pitch, the young Kami.

The comeback was left late as Flamengo eased of the gas to see the game through in the final minutes Kami scored a long range effort from 25 yards which the Flamengo keeper should have saved but let it slip through.

Flamengo grew in confidence and the lessons learned in Palestine were on show today, it's going to be an excited season and one the we all hope will bring a new record breaking fundraising campaign for the Orphans and Needy.

Follow the Flamengo Story, support their cause and take your part in this noble cause of helping young orphans and vulnerable children in Syria and beyond.

SAIF ALL STARS CLINCH A LAST MINUTE GOAL AS FLAMENGO HELD TO A 4-4 DRAW.

The sun was out today for a beautiful cause as Flamengo Juniors were held to a 4-4 draw by Newham community favourites Saif All Stars.

Flamengo finished well by taking a 3-2 lead In the first half with two goals by on form sheroz and the veteran Fayyaz D. The Superstars of Newham had other ideas and pulled one goal back when striker Imran buried his chance well. With the score finishing 3-1 in the first half both teams were ready for the second duel.

The second half started brightly for the purples as Hatrick hero Imran unleashed two spectacular moments to level the game. Kami made immediate changes to bring some energy into the game and on came the special one; Tipu to feed off a brilliant cross by veteran Speedy and blast the ball into the back of the net giving the blues another well deserved lead. The All Stars made several changes bringing on the talented three Ibby, Zulki and Hamza. Flamengo nearly buried the game after Fayyaz D missed a penalty and hit the cross bar, but the last kick off the game finished when Ibby grabbed a well deserved equaliser with the score finishing 4-4.

Thank you to everyone from Newhams community for helping us build the first girls orphanage in Palestine.

Next week the Flamengo coach heads to Northampton to play their away fixture against Northants United FC and help raise more funds for the Palestinians.

MATCH DAY 26
Flamengo Juniors FC 3 - 0 Bengal Dragons
The National 2017 People's Palestine Cup

A SPECIAL WEEKEND IN WALES

After an outstanding season, the Flamengo summer bonanza kicked off this weekend with the boys travelling all the way to Wales to play Bengal Dragons for the Palestine People's Cup. The boys left London on the Saturday, in preparation to face the Dragons at the beautiful Merthyr Town FC stadium on Sunday.

The journey was full of banter, reminders of the cause and most importantly making sure every players intentions were in the right place. The five hour coach ride flew past with the Flamengo boys chanting, laughing and even singing a very dodgy rendition of the Bangladeshi National anthem (courtesy of Taz). Alhamdulilah, the unity and brotherhood saw us attract members of the public from Wales and also a lovely security guard who donated to our cause, whilst the boys were playing about at the service station. Also, a great charity auction for the number 10 shirt allowed the boys to raise a stunning £1,500 for the project.

With all this hype and jokes, the boys knew that the only thing they wanted was to win on Sunday and bring the beautiful trophy home, not just for themselves but for Trent Energy and most importantly for all those that have supported and donated to their cause.

After the customary warm up and thorough drills by Manager Kami, the match was ready to start. Bengal Dragons sported a very very strong athletic team and having already beaten Flamengo 2-1 away, they were in no mood to lose this huge cup final on home turf.

The rain began to fall on the crisp 4G pitch, as the referee blew the whistle for kick off. Flamengo, and especially Shehroz, started with their tails up pressing high and immediately creating a chance for the silky Zulky who had his shot well saved by the Dragons keeper. This set the tone for the half as Flamengo continued to press and had more of the possession. The ball was spread out to Adam on the right numerous times who gave the Drgaon's left back a torrid time. Issh and Faz were controlling the middle, as this lead to yet another chance for Zulki who this time narrowly missed. Meanwhile The Dragons, slowly had more of the ball and began to target the aerial approach with their tall forwards, however the centre back partnership of Speedy and Humza and the confidence of GK Sups was making it difficult for the Dragons to break through.

27 minutes into the game, Flamengo won a corner after some good work from RizO and Daks on the right. Shehroz sent in a beautifully lofted ball and there was Adam, steaming in at the back post, who brilliantly headed into the top right corner to give Flamengo a deserved lead!

Flamengo 1 - 0 Bengal Dragons

Great stuff from the boys, who were wearing their new Palestine kits. The goal did not slow Flamengo down as they continued to dominate the play with Zulki, Shehroz and Adam running the game. Dragons tried to change their play to the wings but both Daks and Saf were in complete control- the latter absolutely giving it his all for the team. As the half wore on, Flamengo won a free kick deep into the half of the Dragons after some good work again from RizO. Top scorer and In form Faz stepped up to strike the ball but he narrowly missed as the ball failed to dip in the last moments. Flamengo knew that a second goal was imperative, as they dominated the half, and were weary that this talented Dragons team would fight back.

36 minutes in, Flamengo had yet another free kick won by Zulki. This time, veteran and Mr Flamengo Issh stepped up to place the ball scrumptiously into the bottom right corner- opposite to the direction of the wall. The team went crazy as the management on the sidelines, including Main Man Sahir who was injured and truly missed and Tipu the loyal Carlos Queiroz for Manager Kami! A deserved goal for the lion of a man Issh!

Flamengo 2 - 0 Bengal Dragons

Flamengo now with their tails up, had the game in complete control and this triggered Kami to make a double substitution to freshen things up, bringing on the energetic Taz and Ibz- the former forced on the sidelines for a start by an ankle injury. Moments after the substitutions, Flamengo had another corner on the 40th minute. Shehroz again delivered another great ball, and after some scrambling stuff in the box Zulki found substitute Ibz who smashed the ball into the net with his first touch of the ball!

Flamengo 3 - 0 Bengal Dragons

What a start for the youngster and what a scoreline for Flamengo who fully deserved their lead!

HALF TIME: Flamengo 3 - 0 Bengal Dragons

A great half for Flamengo but they knew the job was no where near done. Manager Kami stressed the need to remain calm and continue with possession football.

The second half started in that exact fashion as Flamengo passed the ball around the back with Daks, Taz, Speedy and Humza composed on the ball. Whilst in the middle Issh, Zulki, Shehroz and Faz were dominating play and Ibz and Adam stretching play on the width. And it was the combination of Taz and Ibz on the right which saw Flamengo almost score the 4th as Ibz played in Taz who swung in a ball which was inches away from Shehroz.

As the half wore on, The Dragons began to get more of the ball and played some great football. They were using their big striker to good effect but just couldn't find a way through the solid Flamengo defence. However, a great ball in by Jalal (the Dragons captain) saw a stunning header from the Dragons CB wonderfully tipped over by the acrobatic Sups in the Flamengo goal. That was Dragons best chance as the Flamengo team put their whole bodies on the line to protect their goal and keep a clean sheet.

Into the last 15 minutes, Flamengo continued to attack with the energetic Shehroz and Zulki. Numerous attempts on goal from Adam, Issh and Faz, and great build up play from Ibz and Taz almost saw Flamengo get the 4th. However, the game was nearing an end as Flamengo were controlling the pace, as Kami brought on the calm Zahid and pacy Hasan to re energise things. This led to one more chance for the legend Tipu who could not get on the end of a beautiful cross from Faz.

The referee finally blew the whistle as Flamengo picked up a deserved victory and also won the Palestine People's Cup! The celebrations were wild as the boys went crazy with the trophy- all pictures can be found on this post!

FULL TIME: Flamengo 3 - 0 Bengal Dragons

Every player played their hearts out, as the defence was sensational. The managers man of the match was Adam Patel, not just because of his goal but for his work rate attacking and defending throughout the game.

A massive thanks to Bengal Dragons whose constant support to arrange this game and also throughout this campaign has allowed us to continue to do what we planned to do this season- to build the first all girls orphanage in Palestine in sha Allah.

A massive thanks to all those that came to support us like Jajie, the Beast Hassan and Ibrahim. Also, this victory was possible because of your duas and completely from the blessing of Allah swt!
