A gut wrenching exit from the FA Cup this afternoon for Cru in a thrilling game that was a great advert for the competition.

Halesowen drew first blood on 20 minutes with an excellent corner kick routine which was a constant threat to Cru all afternoon. Cru enjoyed a lot of possession but chances were few and far between.

H-T 1-0

Halesowen scored a crucial 2nd goal early in the second half which left a mountain to climb. On 68 minutes the fightback began when DANI SELMES latched onto Danielle Keegan’s through ball and skilfully outfoxed two defenders and the keeper in a chase to cleverly slot home. Unfortunately Cru succumbed to a sucker punch a minute later to concede what was ultimately a killer third goal. In a thrilling finale Cru sacrificed a defender in a gung-ho effort and were rewarded with the goal of the game on 83 minutes-Matilda Justin’s pass found Morgan Betteridge and she then fed Dionne Williams who played a super one/two with DANI SELMES who scored emphatically.

Unfortunately-too much too late and we exit the competition prematurely however lots of positives to take!

We move on to a home league fixture next week.

The squad is boosted by the return of defender Eve Richards, striker Dionne Williams and midfielder Paige Leonard. Megan Jenkins is also available for the first time this season and goes straight into the squad.
