"But I had a great childhood"
This is one most frequent sentences I hear right before my clients have a breakthrough
We've been conditioned to believe that if we were fed, clothed, and told "I love you," we have no right to feel dysregulated, anxious, or alone.
ππ½We confuse affection with attunement.
Affection is the what we experience on the outside.
Attunement is the actual presence.
You can be deeply loved by your parents and still walk away completely unseen.
You can have a home full of warmth where your nervous system still learned that big emotions were too much,
that your needs were an inconvenience, and that to stay safe, you had to become the "easy" child who took up zero space.
When your emotional blueprint is built on survival-mode compliance rather than true mirroring, you grow up into an adult who exhausts themselves people-pleasing, over-functioning, and wondering why they feel so hollow despite a "good" life.
Your parents can be wonderful people who did their absolute best and your emotional needs can still have been left unmet.
Both things can true.
Stop using your parents' love to gaslight your own nervous system and beliefs.
Drop a π below if this made you feel something.
And if you want to unpack whatever is happening for you right now I have a very special offer!
