My client came to me stuck in the same loop most lads are in

Grinding Monday to Friday, training on point, food dialled in, feeling good about themselves

Then the weekend hits

And just like that, all of it goes out the window

Two days of undoing five days of work. Every single week

But something was missing

Not because he was lazy. Not because he wasn’t trying. He just didn’t have the structure around his training and nutrition to actually make it work, and no one holding him accountable when it mattered

And being a landscaper meant time and energy weren’t of the essence

That’s the bit most guys miss

Chasing perfect is keeping you stuck, not pushing you forward

You’re not failing because you’re lazy, you’re failing because you’ve set this unrealistic standard in your head, and the second you can’t hit it, you bin the whole thing off and start again Monday

You’re a busy guy with life stresses, maybe family stresses, trying to push forward in your career and then trying to push forward with your physique as well so chasing perfection can add that little bit of pressure

The truth is 100% perfection is hard to hit, of course it’s the goal, but some days are going to be more of a challenge than others

What does exist is consistency. Showing up most days. Eating well most of the time. Doing the work even when it’s not perfect and not making a big deal out of it when it isn’t

That’s what actually changes things

And the mad part? Once you stop obsessing over perfect and just stay consistent, you naturally start getting closer to it without even trying

Consistency builds the foundation. Perfection is just what happens when that foundation is solid enough

Anyone can get a result when everything goes to plan, when motivation is high, when life is easy

What’s impressive is that he showed up when it wasn’t

The weeks where work was mental and the last thing he wanted to do was train. The weekends where it would’ve been easier to write it off and start again Monday. The check-ins he sent even when the numbers weren’t moving the way he wanted

He didn’t have a perfect run with training. No one does

He just refused to let the hard weeks become a hard month

That’s the difference between the before and the after. Not talent. Not genetics. Not having loads of free time. Just a bloke who decided to stop letting the hard days win
